The Tracker season 2 fall finale, "The Night Movers," finally moves the needle on Colter Shaw's Gina Picket case, but the outing may have been better if it focused on its weekly case instead. Tracker, the most-watched TV show of the 2023-2024 season (breaking NCIS' 5-year streak), returned for its sophomore season to high expectations, and understandably so. Marking Justin Hartley's first post-This Is Us series, Tracker follows its titular character as he roams the country for missing people's cases. In season 2, however, the CBS procedural seems to be struggling to find its identity.

Tracker follows lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw as he navigates the country as a reward seeker. Utilizing his expert tracking skills, he aids private citizens and law enforcement in solving various mysteries while grappling with issues from his fractured family.

CBS’s Tracker snagged the coveted spot following the Super Bowl, kicking off the network’s new primetime drama in what was supposed to be the best possible time slot to draw in viewers. Unfortunately for the series, the Super Bowl went into overtime which meant Tracker didn’t debut on the East Coast until after 11pm.

Based on Jeffrey Deaver’s The Never Game, the action drama stars This Is Us’ Justin Hartley as a loner who has a particular skill set that makes him the perfect person to track missing people. Episode one, “Klamath Falls,” introduces Hartley as Colter Shaw, a survivalist who earns a living by searching for missing people and collecting rewards. This Is Us‘ Justin Hartley returns to primetime with the lead role in CBS’s new drama Tracker. Based on Jeffery Deaver’s The Never Game, Tracker kicks off with episode one – “Klamath Falls” – directed by This Is Us‘ Ken Olin from a script by Ben H. Winters. Episode one airs on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 10pm Et/Pt after Super Bowl Lviii.
