Star Trek: Prodigy fixes Starfleet Academy's elite cadets problem by embodying true Starfleet ideals. Prodigy's Nova Squadron is elite but not elitist, showcasing kindness and humility. Elite cadets can be flawed yet heroic, as seen in Star Trek's new class of heroes in the 2380s.
After 26 years, Star Trek has finally fixed one of its biggest Starfleet Academy problems. In Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5, episode 19, "The First Duty", Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) is now a Starfleet Academy cadet and a member of Nova Squadron, a flight team made up of elite cadets that also includes Sito Jaxa (Shannon Fill), Nick Locarno (Robert Duncan McNeill), and Jean Hajar (Walker Brandt). Locarno convinces the rest of Nova Squadrun to cover up the death of teammate Josh Albert, who perished when Nova Squadron performed the dangerous Kolvoord Starburst maneuver. Wesley speaks up, and Nova Squadron is disbanded.

"Do you want to know the secret to a divorce...?" "Yes, yes I do." Gravitas Ventures has released an official trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Bad Therapy, arriving straight-to-vod coming up in April. Set in Los Angeles, the film is about a struggling married couple who decide to see a marriage counselor named Judy Small. But it turns out this seemingly competent therapist is more than meets the eye, when her own conflicting impulses are brought to light through this couple's problems. Sounds like yet another perfectly cliche Los Angeles film. Alicia Silverstone & Rob Corddry star as the couple, with Michaela Watkins as the therapist, and a cast including Anna Pniowsky, Aisha Tyler, Sarah Shahi, Haley Joel Osment, Dichen Lachman, Sunkrish Bala, and Ginger Gonzaga. Not sure if anyone needs this kind of therapy. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for William Teitler's Bad Therapy, direct from...

Originally known as Hollows Grove, Orphanage: The Haunting at Hollows Grove (that’s one hell of a mouthful) was unceremoniously dumped onto DVD in the UK at the end of October – just in time for Halloween. I say dumped as this is yet another case of an interesting found-footage film (how often do I say that?!) being released with a new supermarket-friendly title and artwork. Artwork, may I add, which makes absolutely no mention that writer/director Craig Efros’s film features cameos from Lance Henriksen and Mykelti Williamson – talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face!
Enough about my supermarket-based complaints and on to the film itself. Orphanage follows a young filmmaker, Harold Maxwell, making a behind-the-scenes documentary on his...

Set to enjoy its world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival tomorrow (Thursday, June 2), Chee and T is a comedy about two friends who are impressed by their boss into getting his nephew to his engagement party. We are pleased to premiere the snazzy-looking festival poster. The official synopsis provides a bit more context: Starring Sunkrish Bala (Castle, The Walking Dead) and Dominic Rains (A Girl Walks Home Along at Night) as the title characters, the film follows two debt collectors who are tasked with getting their boss' wild nephew, Mayunk (Asif Ali), ready for his engagement party. Setting out to complete the seemingly easy task, the two get more than they bargained for trying to control their hyperactive, drug-crazed charge. I've been...

The latest episode for "The Walking Dead" aired just a day ago. Now, the AMC has released a couple of clips for the upcoming episode, titled "Internment." This will be Epis. 5 of Seas. 4, with the series nearing its hiatus after Epis. 8, "Too Far Gone." "Internment" brings events back to the prison and Herschel (Scott Wilson) is fighting a virulent epidemic on his own. The first clip is the trailer for "Internment." This short reel shows events picking up pace as more and more survivors fall to their flu-like symptoms. Herschel is overburdened with the task at hand. The clip also briefly shows Michonne (Danai Gurira) back in the prison yard, so viewers will know that Daryl's (Norman Reedus) road trip has come full circle. The second, longer clip shows Herschel talking with a doctor. Doctor Caleb (Sunkrish Bala) is stricken by a deadly infection and his time is coming to a close.

The Walking Dead, Season 4, Episode 2: “Infected”
Directed by Guy Ferland
Written by Angela Kang
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
Last week on our Walking Dead podcast, I half-heartedly joked around about how I cared more about the pig Violet than I did about Patrick dying. One week later, I find the most heart-wrenching moment coming not when the humans die, but instead when three piglets are sacrificed in order to stop the prison gates from falling down. This isn’t necessarily meant as a full out attack of the show. The ‘three little pigs’ scene is by far the highlight of the episode; as the barriers of the prison come tumbling down, so does Rick’s hope in retaining momentary peace. He and his group are losing in every which way possible to the flesh eating walkers, and if taking lives isn’t enough, now the walkers...

Spartacus‘ fourth and final season has pinned down a premiere date.
Starz announced on Tuesday that the drama’s last chapter, titled Spartacus: War of the Damned, will bow Friday, Jan. 25 at 9/8c.
As creator Steven S. DeKnight previously told TVLine, the series’ final hurrah centers on the battle between Spartacus and Marcus Crassus. “It is very much Crassus, along with the aid of Caesar, going after Spartacus,” he shared. “The scope of it multiplies many times as Crassus battles Spartacus across the country.”

When New Girl returns tonight, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) finally gets his penis cast removed. In honor of that glorious occasion — we’re looking back at the worst phallic injuries on TV.
The dissed member: Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) one-night-stand Steve Murphy (Sunkrish Bala) on Grey’s Anatomy
When: Season 2, episode 10
What happened? After sleeping with Meredith, Steve develops a priapism — otherwise known as an erection that lasts longer than four hours.
Recovery time: By the end of the episode, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) has Steve’s problem figured out. Turns out, it was all in his head. (Seriously, it was a neurological disorder.

Terry O'Quinn as Gavin Doran in "666 Park Avenue" (ABC/Andrew Eccles)
ABC‘s slate of new shows for fall has a strange flavor to it, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride. The network has about as many new shows as returning ones (if you count all the midseasons), and a good percentage of the returning offerings are a year old or less, making this look a bit like a rebuilding year.
Not only is it a rebuilding year, but it’s the year of bringing back every actor and actress who ever had a decent run on a show before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a network’s new season slate that was so crammed with people returning from something else. If you can’t make it good, I suppose, make sure viewers recognize the faces.
It’s tricky to get a solid feel...

It may be the end of the road for MTV's I Just Want My Pants Back. The cable channel has cancelled the romantic comedy series after one year but the show could live on to see season two.
Based on the book by David J. Rosen, I Just Want My Pants Back revolves around a group of twenty-something hipsters who try to figure out dating and the rest of life in Brooklyn. The cast includes Peter Vack, Elisabeth Hower, Jordan Carlos, Kim Shaw, and Sunkrish Bala. The show was initially developed for NBC.
Pants was previewed back in August 2011 and drew a very healthy 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.13 million total viewers. In retrospect, MTV execs may be wishing that they'd started airing the rest of the season right away.

MTV's new show "I Just Want My Pants Back" immediately sets up a premise: Don't lose your pants to a hot girl after a steamy one-night stand.
Of course, those pants go on to act as a metaphor about a group of twentysomethings who live, love and party in Brooklyn. For the rest of the series, it seems, Jason (Peter Vack's character) is just trying to find that perfect girl, the perfect job and his lost set of trousers.
In fact, all the characters seem to be trying to nail down that special something, whatever it is. And, if you think that what you've seen so far is saucy, from what the "Pants Back" cast tells us,...

The characters on MTV's new scripted series "I Just Want My Pants Back" are young, occasionally romantically challenged and always up for a good time. The show, set in New York, is a nonstop party that follows the lives of several twentysomethings trying to find love and find themselves in the Big Apple.
The characters each play a role (sassy, neurotic, lustful) in their circle of friends, the same way that those other "Friends" did back in the 1990s. The show focuses on Jason, Tina and the rest of their Brooklyn-dwelling crew as they struggle with unemployment and general disaffection. But are the actors anything like their characters on the show? MTV News investigates.

Whereas audiences may usually expect a film festival to be comprised solely of artsy dramas and foreign films, Albino Farm is a breath of fresh air as one of three horror films that spice up the Sliff lineup this year. The film was written and directed by Joe Anderson and Sean McEwen. The story follows four college students who venture deep into the Ozark mountains to research a school cultural project. When a flat tire leaves them stranded in a small backwoods town, their adventurous spirit and lack of respect and maturity lead them directly into danger from a secret society of deranged and sadistic redneck religious freaks.
The cast of unsuspecting college students includes four staples of the slasher genre, including Brian (Nick Richey) the Seann William Scott style smart mouth guy along with Sanjay (Sunkrish Bala) the straight guy, in this case along the vein of Kal Penn,...

I should probably hate Albino Farm; the Mti Home Video release has all the ingredients of irritatingly shallow horror. Yet as hard as I try to push it away, I have to embrace it. I should make a disclaimer before we continue: I have a perhaps irrational enthusiasm for the foolish-travelers-meet-awesome-looking-mutants-who-eat-people subgenre. From The Hills Have Eyes to Wrong Turn 2…I love ’em all. When I learned I was being assigned a film called Albino Farm, my eyes lit up with childlike wonder.
I was disappointed. Yet I was not entirely let down.
Joe Anderson and Sean McEwen wrote/directed/produced this tragic tale of four stereotypically ignorant college kids with distinct horror personality types. Stacey (Australian star Tammin Sursok) is the kind-hearted All-American girl. Melody (Alicia Lagano) is the foul-mouthed tough chick; her apparent boyfriend Brian (Nick Richey) is the obnoxious frat-boy jerk. Sanjay (Sunkrish Bala) is the...

Horror cinema has for some time mined folklore for inspiration, whether it be Eastern Europe’s belief in vampirism or Mexico’s love affair with the goat-sucking chupacabra. American filmmakers Sean McEwen and Joe Anderson, whose feature Albino Farm hits DVD September 22 from Mti Home Video, followed suit in crafting their backwoods fright feature.
“One of the original ideas we kept coming back to,” McEwen tells Fango on the set, “was based on an actual legend specific to southern Missouri and the Ozarks about the ‘albino farm.’ There was a good foundation for a story, but it definitely needed a lot of meat put on its bones, which also gave us the opportunity to really take the creative ball and run with it.”
