Yeppers, it's true! The Office reboot just confirmed its first returning star, and the excitement for the in-the-works continuation series has officially increased. Obviously, all of us fans are excited to see what's in store for the upcoming Peacock follow-up of the beloved sitcom, but let's be honest, we're all waiting to find out who from the original could be coming back.
Well, our first Dunder Mifflin alum has boarded the reboot to reprise his character: Oscar Nuñez will bring back his character Oscar Martinez. Variety notes that Oscar will not be a central character in the new series set in the same universe as all our favorite characters. Additionally, he's been part of the pilot script from the beginning and will be in the mix with the other new characters.

Peacock’s upcoming follow-up series to The Office will include one of the classic characters. First reported by Jeff Sneider and confirmed by Variety, Oscar Nuñez will return to play Oscar Martinez in the new Office series.
Variety’s sources say that Nuñez won’t be a central character in the follow-up, but he has been part of the script since the very beginning. It’s possible that other characters from The Office might appear alongside Oscar, but I’d wager that creators Greg Daniels and Michael Korman will want the new series to find its own footing before they bring in more blasts from the past. The report states that Daniels has previously said that “he felt he told a complete story for most of the characters — but if there was one character he’d like to revisit and explore, it would be Oscar.“

The connection between The Office and its follow-up series at Peacock has become more concrete.
Oscar Nuñez, who played accountant Oscar Martinez throughout The Office’s run, will reprise his character in the Peacock series. Like its predecessor, the show is a mockumentary in which the documentary crew that filmed at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch for years takes on a new project, following the publisher and staff of a historic but struggling Midwestern newspaper.
When The Office ended in 2013, Nuñez’s character was running for a state Senate seat in Pennsylvania while continuing to work at Dunder Mifflin. Details of how Oscar fits into the new series are being kept quiet for now — though Nuñez has been involved from the start (his casting was first reported by The Insneider newsletter). Oscar Nuñez will reprise his The Office role of “Oscar Martinez” in the Peacock follow up series known as Untitled Greg Daniels/Michael Koman Project, Deadline has confirmed.
Rumored to be called The Paper, the new mockumentary series is set in the same universe as NBC’s Emmy Award-winning hit series The Office.
Nuñez is the first actor from the original series confirmed to be participating in the Daniels/Koman series. We understand the show will not be centered around Oscar, an accountant at Dunder Mifflin (or any one character), but he is one of the characters in the show and was involved from the start.
The Paper reintroduces the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch as they search for a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

Oscar Nuñez will return as Oscar Martinez in Peacock’s follow-up series to “The Office,” Variety has confirmed.
Sources say Nuñez will not be the central character in the upcoming mockumentary sitcom — which takes place in the same universe as “The Office” — as it is an ensemble series. But he is part of the show’s character mix, and has been in the opening script from the beginning.
There are no further details regarding Oscar’s role or storyline in the new show, which Greg Daniels is creating and executive producing with Michael Korman (“Nathan For You”).
As of now, Nuñez is believed to be the only “Office” cast member who will appear in the follow-up series (right now still referred to as the “Untitled Daniels/Korman Project”) — but it has been noted that since it lives in the world of “The Office,” there was always a chance that characters...

I completely understand that adapting a beloved book series for the big screen is a difficult and precarious task, especially when you're talking about the "Harry Potter" novels written by Joanne Kathleen Rowling. The seven books, which span a couple thousand pages and covers the life of the boy wizard named Harry Potter (played in the film franchise by Daniel Radcliffe), are massive and chock-full of lore, building the Wizarding World brick by brick and introducing everything from wand types to wizarding currency to magical slang. When it comes to the film adaptations, which were helmed by a collection of directors, the creative team did a pretty phenomenal job for the most part ... but one huge issue is the character of Ginny Weasley, played by Bonnie Wright.
I don't want to speak ill of Wright, but the bottom line here is that the young actor — who appears in all eight movies as Ginny,...

From rogue androids to emotional AI, these sci-fi movies dive into the future of artificial intelligence.
I haven’t seen “Companion” yet, but it’s been on my list for a few months. It’s a sci-fi horror-thriller about an AI robot named Iris (Sophie Thatcher), who was built to be the perfect companion (in more ways than one…) until she starts questioning everything about her existence. The movie dives into themes of control, identity, and what it really means to be human. With AI being such a hot topic these days, it got me thinking about some of the best sci-fi movies featuring AI-powered robots - so here are seven of my favorites you can stream right now.

No. 6: ‘Ex Machina’

Hollywood has long been fascinated with the concept of time travel. Whether it is killer cyborgs from the future or extra-terrestrials capable of simultaneously communicating with the past and future, we've had no shortage of captivating time-travel films. Often, these movies eschew logic for thrills, hoping viewers are more enamored with the spectacle to worry about plot contrivances. Then again, sometimes writers and directors make too much sense and threaten to put viewers into a coma with their scientific reasoning. Either way, most time-travel adventures produced in Tinseltown tend to leave some sort of mark on audiences, for better or worse.
Don't worry; we've sifted through the legion of titles to determine the 15 best time-travel films to ensure you don't waste your precious time with mere trifles. Grab your sunglasses, hop in your nearest DeLorean or phone booth, and prepare to go on a wicked journey into the past.

When it comes to renowned director Doug Liman, no one can question his bold choices and visionary take on filmmaking. Even when he ventured into the dark side of American patriotism with the Tom Cruise-led American Made (2017), Liman surprisingly managed to justify his opinion behind the narrative that many dubbed as “anti-Top Gun”.

Margot Robbie was almost cast in American Horror Story: Asylum? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Back in 2012, Margot Robbie auditioned for American Horror Story: Asylum, the season packed with all things creepy and Emmy-worthy. But despite delivering an audition that made jaws drop, she didn’t land the role.
Casting director Eric Dawson spilled the beans on Backstage’s In the Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast, calling Robbie’s audition one of his “favorites of all time.” He said, “She was such a star. It was crazy, her star appeal when she walked in the room. Even though she didn’t get that role, you just knew—this is a star. What do we do with her?”
At that point, Margot was fresh off the short-lived Pan Am (2011–2012), where she played a 1960s stewardess—sadly, the show didn’t take off, but Robbie’s ambition was about to. With a fearless mindset,...

The Office writer Mike Schur opened up about how Saturday Night Live‘s Japanese parody of the NBC comedy didn’t sit super well with him.
The Man on the Inside creator stopped by The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast for its Criterion Episode to evaluate different Lonely Island digital shorts. While appearing on the show, Seth Meyers asked Schur and CNN anchor Jake Tapper what their thoughts were about the short, “The Japanese Office,” and both agreed it wasn’t one of the top ones.
“I worked at SNL, but you still feel like SNL at some point, at some level, is an arbiter of what matters in the culture,” he explained. “And when he did ‘The Japanese Office,’ I remember being a little bit rankled.” He added, “It didn’t feel right to me in some way. Guy Ritchie's latest movie, the heist adventure Fountain of Youth, feels like a spiritual successor to the Indiana Jones franchise, and is actually a better alternative than a potential sixth installment of the Harrison Ford franchise. Fountain of Youth represents somewhat of a departure from the norm for Ritchie, who typically deals in gangster comedies and spy thrillers. Guy Ritchie's upcoming movie will be a family-friendly action-adventure movie, very much in the vein of the National Treasure or The Mummy franchises, and will star Hollywood A-listers John Krasinski and Natalie Portman.
While details are somewhat limited, a feature in Entertainment Weekly revealed some information about the general plot. In Fountian of Youth, Krasinski and Portman will play siblings Luke and Charlotte Purdue as they journey across the globe in search of the legendary fountain that grants eternal life to anyone who drinks from it. When “Hacks” won the Emmy earlier this year for outstanding comedy, it shocked pundits who had expected another victory for “The Bear.” Even the “Hacks” producers were gobsmacked, jaws agape as they reached the stage. But for the execs at Universal Television, which produces “Hacks” for Max, that stunning moment came with a little vindication.
“‘Gratifying’ is an understatement,” says Universal TV president Erin Underhill. “It was huge. For me personally, it was a career highlight. This was not a show buyers were looking for. Everyone passed on it.”
The “Hacks” win was not only a shot in the arm for the comedy genre — which is experiencing a bit of a renaissance this fall — but also another notch in the belt for Universal’s comedy division, which is also seeing an uptick in its output.

Movies don't get much better than Denis Villeneuve's "Sicario," an Oscar-winning 2015 drama that takes a hard look at the war on drugs as seen through the eyes of a naive FBI agent (Emily Blunt). Written by "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan, "Sicario" doesn't play by traditional rules. There are no heroes or villains or easy solutions to complicated problems. Instead, this world is littered with characters like Benicio del Toro's haunted assassin Alejandro Gillick and Josh Brolin's ruthless and curiously detached CIA operative, two men who willfully execute their ethically compromised missions because it's the only path that leads to something resembling success.
Dark, atmospheric, well written and acted, and boasting some of legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins' best work, "Sicario" is an experience you won't soon forget. There aren't many films like it.
That said, there are films we wholeheartedly recommend that at least come close. We've compiled...

Show business is notoriously tough — and before actors make it big, they end up taking small parts to get by. It's inevitable, and if an aspiring actor doesn't book something super lucrative like, say, a national commercial (which can provide solid payouts every time they air), they probably turn to background work to make ends meet and get some exposure. All of this is to say that, if you're enjoying a slightly older movie or TV show, you might see a familiar face in a background scene from time to time. So, which of your favorite famous actors worked as an extra before they got their big break?
From an actor who eventually became a duchess to a handful of Oscar winners to the star of a breakout Netflix hit, here are just a few performers you can spot in the background or in small roles from their early days in the industry.

Mindy Kaling is in her Michael Scott era.
The actress explained that she relates to The Office character, played by Steve Carell, after welcoming three children during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday. Kaling is a mother to daughters Katherine and Anne and son Spencer.
Kaling recalled working on the episode in which Scott “was on a child TV show, and they asked him, ‘What do you wanna do when you grow up?’ And he says, ‘I wanna have 100 kids, so I can have 100 friends, and no one can say no to being my friend.’”
Kaling, who was a writer and actor on the NBC sitcom, added that she wrote the episode when she was 25 and “so far from thinking of having kids.
“I thought, ‘Oh, that’s like, so funny and sad that like a grown-up would want to have kids to have friends,’” she explained.

Although The Office is regarded as one of the most successful sitcoms ever, its first season leaves much to be desired, but that doesn't mean viewers should skip over it. The NBC mockumentary comedy series, developed by Greg Daniels, is based on Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's British show of the same name. It revolves around the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, where Steve Carell's Michael Scott is the regional manager. Michael and many other funny characters in The Office are among the most memorable fictional figures in TV history, which is partly why the show was such a triumph.
A follow-up series to The Office titled The Paper is in the works for Peacock. Greg Daniels co-created the upcoming mockumentary sitcom with Michael Koman. While it will take place in the same universe as the original show and feature the same documentary crew, it...

Hayley Atwell appeared in a Black Mirror episode in 2013 and the futuristic uncertainty her character finds herself in may actually be more possible than some viewers would ever guess. The British TV series Black Mirror has been credited with several commendations since it first premiered in December 2011 with one of the most shocking and bold TV show pilots ever, a pilot that involved a prime minister and a pig. For six seasons and counting, Black Mirror has been using technology and science fiction to explore the dark possibilities of humanity's future.
Black Mirror is a wildly prescient show, and sometimes it feels like Black Mirror is predicting the future. The show rarely, if ever, does hard science fiction, instead taking things present in today's modern world and future-fitting them by a decade or so. John Krasinski is a true talent! He made us laugh and proved he could be a comedic actor on The Office. Since then, he's been in more dramatic roles in both film and television. And he's just as good in those projects as well! There's an upcoming one we're excited about and that's Fountain of Youth starring the actor alongside Natalie Portman.
In the Apple Studios and Skydance movie, the two are set to play siblings onscreen. This is the pairing we never knew we needed! Per Deadline, the brother and sister are estranged but decide to work together on a "global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth." The two are knowledgable in history, which may give them an advantage in this adventure that will "change their lives - and possibly lead to immortality."

While The Office casting Steve Carell was a big win for the iconic sitcom, this choice also indirectly benefited another pair of classic TV shows. The Offices cast of characters included some of the best network sitcom characters in years, and standout supporting stars like Creed Bratton and Mindy Kaling helped make the series a classic. To differentiate itself from the UK version of The Office, the broader, warmer US workplace mockumentary introduced legendary new characters like Rainn Wilsons Dwight Schrute and Jenna Fischers Pam. These characters and their chemistry made the show a huge hit.

Jones stopped by Office Ladies, the podcast hosted by sitcom stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, where she gave insight into the casting process behind the show that still maintains a cult following.

Mexico is getting its own remake of “The Office.”
“La Oficina” comes from Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios and Gary “Gaz” Alazraki’s Máquina Vega, the companies announced Wednesday. It will be based off the cult hit BBC series starring Ricky Gervais that blossomed into the U.S. spinoff starring Steve Carell. Alazraki will serve as director and executive producer on the series, with Marcos Bucay as showrunner.
The show takes place in Aguascalientes at a family business called Jabones Olimpo. The office is run by Jerónimo Ponce III and like many bosses in these series, he’s in over his head. The rest of the employees are forced to deal with the headache of working for an unqualified manager.
The series is the latest remake to use the comedy mockumentary format. Prime Video – where “La Oficina” will stream exclusively in Latin America, Brazil and Spain – already launched an Australian version.

An ancient wizarding family, the Weasley family tree is extensive and filled with some of the most important characters in the Harry Potter universe. After Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) saves Arthur Weasley (Mark Williams) from an attack by Nagini, Molly Weasley (Julie Walters) hugs Harry and tells him, "...it was a lucky day for the Weasleys when Ron decided to sit in your compartment on the Hogwarts Express, Harry." The opposite is also true because the Weasley family has helped Harry more times than anyone can count.
A very poor, very old, and very loving family, the Weasleys' unsaid invitation for Harry to be a part of their clan is just as important an invitation as the one brought to him by an owl at the beginning of The Sorcerer's Stone. The Weasley family is large with some siblings who are only hinted at until they're introduced later. From their...

It’s been over a decade since Michael Scott and his team of hilarious wholesale employees departed from small screens, but the love is still there. From producing loose leaf to actually using it, here comes The Paper!
Many still regard The Office as the epitome of American comedy. While that is quite the mantle to place the series on, the mockumentary left a lasting impression on the long-standing history of television.
So, it comes as no surprise that the same team behind one of Steve Carell’s career-defining shows would be ready to clock in for another round of deadpan reactions and comedy so dry that it’ll make your measly piece of toast look like a soggy pancake.

Spinoffs can hit or miss, but considering the hands behind it, TV Fanatic has a good feeling about this show. Without further ado, here’s everything...

“The Office” spinoff cast continues to grow.
The upcoming Peacock series is adding Alex Edelman, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Tim Key to its main cast, with Eric Rahill as a co-star. The still-untitled spinoff stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impaccitore as its leads.
Additionally, Ikumelo, Edelman and Rahill are writers for the series. Edelman is off an Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special Emmy win for his HBO comedy special, while Ikumelo won Female Performance in a Comedy Programme BAFTA Award for “Black Ops.”
The newly announced cast members also join Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei and Ramona Young. This trio was uniquely announced through the Palisadian-Post based in the Pacific Palisades, California, as the three actors had been shadowing the reporters at the paper in prep for the show.
There remain some unknowns surrounding the new series, but one concrete fact is that it’s set at a newspaper rather than a paper company.
