Fox has renewed “9-1-1” for Season 5 and its sister show “9-1-1: Lone Star” for Season 3. The “9-1-1” mothership will anchor Monday nights in the fall, while its spinoff will premiere midseason. The franchise, a major cornerstone and rating powerhouse for Fox, hails from creators and executive producers Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear.
“9-1-1: Lone Star” stars “Parks and Recreation” alum Rob Lowe, Liv Tyler, Ronen Rubinstein, Sierra Aylina McClain, Jim Parrack, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Rafael Silva, Julian Works, Brianna Baker and Mark Elias. Per the logline, the spinoff follows a sophisticated New York fireman (Lowe) who, along with his son (Rubinstein), re-locates to Austin, Texas, and must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in his own life. Murphy, Falchuk, and Minear serve in the same roles. Martin Woodall, Buecker, Gray, and Bassett are also executive producers along with Rashad Raisani.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for tonight’s “9-1-1”/”9-1-1: Lone Star” crossover.)
Austin’s Station 126 finally met some of the members of Los Angeles’ 118 on Monday’s “9-1-1: Lone Star,” which featured the long-awaited crossover with parent series “9-1-1.” The lucky few — or unlucky, depending on how you look at some of the things that happen during the hour — who get to make the 20-hour trip to help put out a massive wildfire in Texas are Buck (Oliver Stark), Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and Hen (Aisha Hinds), who almost immediately are split up into three different storylines connecting them with “Lone Star’s” leads.
And that aspect of the crossover was very important to Tim Minear, who is showrunner on both “9-1-1” and “Lone Star,” so that he could create the quick bonds among the two teams that would be necessary in order for them to join...

Liv Tyler will not appear in the upcoming second season of “9-1-1: Lone Star” on Fox, Variety has confirmed.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Tyler approached producers over the summer about exiting the show, despite having a multi-year contract. Her decision was due at least in part to concerns about traveling back and forth from her home in the U.K. to shoot the show in the U.S. with the Covid-19 pandemic still affecting both countries. Her character, Michelle Blake, will not be recast or killed off, leaving the door open for her to return.
“What a thrill it was having a movie star of Liv Tyler’s stature to help us launch the first season of ‘911: Lone Star,'” series showrunner Tim Minear said. “We loved working with Liv and will be forever indebted to her for her haunting, powerful portrayal of Michelle Blake.

Gina Torres has found her latest role.
The “Suits” alumna is set to join Fox’s “9-1-1: Lone Star” as a series regular in its upcoming second season, Variety has learned. News of her addition comes around five months after both “Lone Star” and its “9-1-1” originator were renewed by Fox.
Season 2 of “Lone Star” is scheduled to begin production in Los Angeles later this fall, with an early 2021 premiere on the books as part of Fox’s midseason schedule.
Torres will play the role of Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega, who was at the top of her game when she hung up her uniform to raise her twin daughters. For eight years life was great for Tommy, until Covid-19 changed her life, causing her husband’s restaurant to go under and forcing her to re-enter the workforce to support her family. Though it breaks her heart to be apart from her little girls,...

Holy crap! I’d completely forgotten about writer/director D. Kerry Prior’s horror/comedy “The Revenant”. For some reason, I thought its arrival on home video had already come and gone. Fortunately for fans who have been waiting ever-so-patiently for the flick to arrive, Prior’s 2009 endeavor is heading to select theaters this August. For those of us who don’t live near participating theaters, the film will also arrive on VOD. In other words, everybody wins. Nice. Check out this handy synopsis, courtesy of IMDb: The night after his funeral, Bart, a soldier killed in Iraq gets up out of his grave and seeks out his best friend Joey. At dawn Bart’s body falls to the floor, only to reawaken the following dusk. He and his buddy decide that he is a revenant: an articulate zombie that needs to drink blood to arrest the decomposition of his body.
