Like many low budget action films, there is a constant, uneasy tension between ambition and what is possible. Hustle Down is aiming to be a Michael Mann thriller, but the constraints constantly degrade the experience. Whether it is low budget cameras, direction, or uneven acting.
An almost unrecognisable Tom Sizemore (with dyed black hair and looking elderly) is running around (and gosh is it a sad sight) in a cheap shirt, avoiding cartel hitmen.
I barely recognise the wispy voice of Tom Sizemore here, nor his ghoulish countenance and I certainly don’t recognise his ripe acting. He was one of my favourite actors for a long time, and it is so sad to...

It was about sixty minutes into Tyler Cornack’s one-hundred-minute feature film Butt Boy when I wondered aloud, “How can there be so much time left?” At this point, the culprit behind the disappearance of a child had already been identified as It professional Chip Gutchell (Cornack) in the prologue. The person positioned to take him down (Tyler Rice’s Detective Russel Fox) was more than ready to pounce. Both men were heading towards their climactic convergence point as a result of the script’s unabashed use of narrative convenience and everything seemed primed to be wrapped up with a bow despite almost half the runtime remaining. What else could happen? How much more absurd could the film get while retaining its unwaveringly confrontational straight face? The answer: a lot.
I shouldn’t have been surprised considering the crime Cornack and co-writer Ryan Koch’s mystery hinges upon. It can...

I think we can now say it is officially the festive season. So this means that I will try to watch as many Christmas movies as humanly possible throughout December (and the end of November). Ugly Sweater Party comes under the banner of Christmas horror comedy, so it hasn’t got a whole lot of competition.
I have previously enjoyed director Aaron Mento’s work. Starting with the unique and entertaining Standards of Living and then moving on to the very clever series idea of Choose Their Kill (look it up and enjoy), so when I discovered he was the director of Ugly Sweater Party my expectations were a little higher. The year is 2307 and Earth is three centuries removed from climate change transforming its surface to glacial ice. Humanity has evolved to living underground, improving technology to help sustain their tenuous ecosystem outside of the subzero temperatures. This includes insulation injections to combat cold for up to 48 hours, strength enhancements, and even artificial intelligence boosters. It also led to the manufacture of a synthetic Humanoid race as slave labor. Super-strong, immune to the elements, and unable to reproduce, they do all the things we can’t in this new world wrought from a hubris that’s allowed the year to mark a second anniversary: five years since Ash-393 (Branden Coles) broke free from his “chains” to lead a devastating Humanoid rebellion that’s yet to be neutralized.

"Ash-393 is considered to be the most sophisticated humanoid ever created by man. He's the leader of the rogue humanoid rebellion." This is one of those weird little films we've never heard of, and yet it actually looks pretty cool. 2307: Winter's Dream is a futuristic sci-fi film set in 2307, of course, about a soldier sent on a mission to hunt down the leader of the humanoid rebellion. It was pointed out to me by the guys at Quiet Earth and pitched as a "Mad Max on ice", which is actually kind of accurate if you think of the very first Mad Max film. The cast includes Paul Sidhu, Branden Coles, Brad Potts, Anne-Solenne Hatte and Arielle Holmes. This looks like one of those sci-fi B-movies you'd get on VHS at the local video store. Here's the first teaser trailer for Joey Curtis' 2307: Winter's Dream, from Vimeo (via...

Tagline: "The Hunt is On." Sci-fi website Quiet Earth has debuted the first trailer for Joey Curtis' 2307: Winter's Dream. The film, which is currently at Cannes, involves a future world, where synthetic humanoids are waging a rebellion. From director Joey Curtis (Blue Valentine), 2307: Winter's Dream blends a number of genres. And, Paul Sidhun, Branden Coles and Brad Potts centrally star. The film's first trailer available here. The synopsis reveals more of the story. A virus has wiped out 75% of the world's population. The survivors live below ground as an Ice Age is renewed above ground. Synthetic humans, tasked with helping their creators, have turned against them, instead. Now, a war is raging between the synthetics and few remaining human survivors. Very indie in nature, the filmmakers of 2307: Winter's Dream have provided an example of how far creativity can go on a small budget. Full of action sequences and terrifying scenarios,...

Two's company and three's a crowd--but four can soar! At least that's what the good folks at haRFMFul Productions, Sick Puppy Pictures, MOnsterworks66 and Lion Arch Productions believe as they prep a three-feature slate to shoot in Louisiana later this year or early in 2016!
Rycke Foreman (haRMFul), Phil Condit (Sick Puppy), Maria Olsen (MO66) and Lionel Archuleta (Lion Arch) are developing a slate of three horror-comedies for production in Louisiana and are presently attaching cast and finalizing budgets before approaching La. investors. The three films, Happy Ending, Hacked Off and Grizzled! (#Hehog) are all zany romps through HorCom Land featuring lovely ladies, buckets of blood, hunky heroes and terrifyingly funny Big Bads.
The films may all live in the same genre, but they each have their own special stamp of entertaining insanity:

Puppet Master X: Axis Rising (2012)
Directed By: Charles Band
Written By: Charles Band & Shane Bitterling
Starring: Kip Canyon (Danny), Jean Louise O’Sullivan (Beth), Oto Benzina (Freuhoffer), Scott King (Moebius), Brad Potts (Seargent Stone), Kurt Sinclair (Major Collins), Stephanie Sanditz (Uschi), Paul Thomas Arnold (General Porter), Terumi Shimazu (Ozu)
Nothing says “Full Moon” like the “Puppet Master” franchise. I am always surprised they come out with a new film and we are already up to the tenth entry! I have had mixed feelings about this franchise and this movie is no different. While it is better than the ninth installment, it is lacking the magic the first films had. Charles Band returns to write and direct this entry.
The movie continues where the previous movie left off. Danny and Beth have discovered that the Nazis have Tunneler and want to extract the serum from him to create super soldiers.

Several stills have been released for director "Bloody Bill" Pon's Circus of the Dead. The film deals with a dangerous carnival and the characters trapped there. Actor Bill Oberst Jr. plays one of the clowns at the circus, named Papa Corn. Also, Parrish Randall (Gut Instincts), Chanel Ryan (Bad Kids Go To Hell), Roger Edwards (Stop-Loss) and Brad Potts star in this terrifying horror film, which is nearing completion. The film's story is still, mostly, being kept in mystery. However, characters in the film are tasked with questions of morality and their answers may or may not allow them to survive. The early stills from the film show that some will not make it. Actor Oberst Jr. is shown above as Papa Corn. The film's bright visual display can be seen in this photo. Below, Papa Corn slices one person, while another has a face peel. These two photos are...

Cast: Jonathan Erickson Eisley, Eve Mauro, Circus-Szalewski, Brad Potts, Leroy Patterson, and Michael Cassidy. Zombies vs. Strippers is the latest film production from the Los Angeles based Full Moon Features. This film should not be confused with Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! aka Strippers vs. Zombies (2008) or Zombie Strippers (2008) or Strippers vs. Werewolves (2012) or the upcoming Strippers vs. Vampires (2013). Yes, these are all actual films. Zombies vs Strippers does not really separate itself from these other films as the focus here is on creating campy fun. That fun comes through in the silly dialogue, strange action scenes and over-the-top caricatures. The Tough Titty is a strip bar that is going out of business. The Tough Titty is seemingly located in an abandoned industrial park. So, when the.
