Grew up with, and began his film career with Jeff Goodwin, an award-winning make-up and special effects artist best known for "Blue Velvet" and "Last of the Mohicans".

After being a cop for 4 years, Larry got the chance to work in the TV industry. In 1990, "America's Most Wanted" filmed Season 3, Episode 105 about escaped fugitive, Stephen Burleson, who was wanted through Larry's agency. Larry acted as case-consultant, local resource coordinator and even did make-up for the tattoos needed for the actor portraying Burleson. This episode also highlighted the process of developing an episode and shows Larry working with the director and producer on planning this shoot. This episode aired March 4, 1990. Burleson was caught several months later in San Francisco.
