- Richard is the brother of Rona Par, who starred in The Flip Side (2001)...which screened at the Sundance Film Festival that year. Their mother is Lily Par.
- He was inspired to work in the film industry after watching The Hunt for Red October (1990) at the theater on opening weekend. Still a 4th grader at the time, Richard drew storyboards for his own submarine thriller.
- When Richard was born in October of 1979, his oldest siblings gave him his first name...which was in reference to Richie Cunningham, the popular character played by Ron Howard on the classic TV series Happy Days (1974).
