James Ransom is a director of photography and a multimedia artist with
the Oily Film Company.
He studied fine arts at the University of Ottawa. He has shot three feature films and a large array of music videos, shorts, and installation pieces. At the moment, he is working on a series of stop-motion animated shorts for the Ontario Arts Council and his cinematography in the field of title sequences won a SXSW title design award in 2012 for "Les Blues De Ramville". His work on new Canadian t.v. series, "Hardrock Medical", is nominated in the same category in 2013.
