Steven McKay(II)

Born in Brisbane in 1978 Steven studied music at an early age first beginning with trumpet then piano a short while later. His musical studies led him to become interested in composition at the age of 16 whilst attending high school. In 1996 whilst completing his final year of school he won a competition along with 6 other promising composers to write a piece for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. This experience in turn led him to begin studying with Stephen Leek and Gerard Brophy at the Queensland Conservatorium where he completed a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music. From 1998 onwards he constantly worked on short films and features and currently resides in the suburb of Eatons Hill where he continues writing for features and other musical events.
