Tony Wright MBE is an Actor/Radio Presenter
Tony Wright (MBE) is an actor and radio presenter who made a big name for himself, especially on radio in Wales.
His first acting 'break' came in the late 1980's when he was part of a BBC TV Drama series called 'The Old Devils', Wright played the Gay German Barman, Helmet! He went to play a few other roles on TV and performed in several theatre plays such as Death of a Salesman, Gregorys Girl, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, The Accrington Pals and The Deep Blue Sea.
During a period of unemployment Wright started to work for a local radio station (Red Dragon Radio) in Cardiff. He quickly managed to get various shows on the station and later on became the hugely successful Breakfast Show presenter on Touch Radio, Capital Gold and Real Radio.
Whilst he was at Real Radio, presenting his daily successful radio breakfast show with his co presenter Angela Jay, Wrights contract was terminated due to 'personal problems'. A later TV documentary on Tony Wright for ITV, told the story of how he had become addicted to alcohol and how he had overcome it.
It was at this time when Wright returned to acting full time. He has five theatre tours under his belt since his radio departure and also two films 'Chariot' and 'Still Foxy'. He was also a guest artiste for the BBC series Casualty.
