Andrey Kavun is Russian film director, screenwriter. Known for the historical drama Kandagar (2010) and the ironic action movie Piranha (2006). He was born in Ukraine in the city of Lvov, in the family of an actress and director. In childhood he read a lot, watched movies; favorite film that shook the boy - Pirates of the 20th Century (1980). After graduation, he served 2 years as a sailor in the navy. After the service he moved to Moscow, entered VGIK. In 1999, Kavun graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of Vladimir Khotinenko). In 2001, he graduated from the degree film "How much does this fish cost" and received the main prize of the International Film Festival Saint Anna. Television series Kursanty (2005), filmed and directed by Andrey Kavun based on the autobiographical story of Pyotr Todorovskiy "Remember - don't remember", for the first time in the history of Russian television was nominated for the Emmy International Award.
