We can't believe the long-awaited second season of Xo, Kitty is finally streaming on Netflix! After last season's jaw-dropping cliffhanger, our favorite teen matchmaker is back at Kiss, prepared to tackle whatever drama comes her way. Though, for her sanity, let’s hope it’s a smooth sailing semester this time! Who are we kidding, though? With Kitty, chaos is practically guaranteed—and we’re here for every second of it! Q doesn't call her his chaos queen for nothing.
Unfortunately, the second season is two episodes shorter than the first. With each episode clocking in at 30 minutes or less, the season flies by. You hit play on the first episode, and before you know it, you’ve already reached the season 2 finale! Honestly, it seems like the episodes go by even quicker because the story is so engaging and packed with twists, leaving you wanting more after each one.

Judge Steve Harvey – (ABC/Erika Doss)
Steve Harvey Steve Harvey has quickly learned that justice is not easy. Sure, there are some cases he comes across on Judge Steve Harvey that are open-and-shut cases, but there are others that are filled with plenty of nuance and conflicting arguments. And Harvey firmly believes that justice is blind. So, when he gets those difficult cases, he told us he tries to keep his personal feelings about the people involved out of his decisions, which is not an easy thing to do. Steve Harvey In a way, Judge Steve Harvey is like the U.S. Supreme Court, in that the show gets to choose the cases it would like to hear. So, ultimately, the decisions often come down to the types of cases that Harvey enjoys presiding over. Difficult decisions have to be made, and good people will sometimes come out on the losing side. So, as he’s listening to the cases and weighing the evidence on Judge Steve Harvey, he told us he needs to stay completely objective as he’s making his decisions, though he admits that many of the people who appear before him have tried a lot of things to get on his good side. Steve Harvey Obviously, Steve Harvey is not a real judge, and he knows it. But, in order to give the show — and Harvey’s rulings on the show — some real gravitas, he insists that trial participants afford him the same kind of respect they would have for a real judge. That includes, Harvey told us, making sure that he is addressed in a formal way. Judge Steve Harvey – (ABC/Erika Doss) Steve Harvey Obviously, people don’t tune in to Judge Steve Harvey for a strict interpretation of the law. After all, he has no law school experience. However, what he lacks in legal smarts, Harvey makes up for it in street smarts. But, above all else, Harvey says, when he’s listening to the cases presented before him, most of his verdicts come straight from the heart. Great casting is one of the things best defined by what it is not. There’s an alchemy to the assembling of a cast — particularly a larger ensemble — that can only be achieved with luck and a sharp eye. And while the 2022-2023 TV season saw plenty of larger-than-life performances and jaw-dropping transformations, these four first-year series managed, in wildly different ways, the same balancing act of star turns and sharply delineated supporting roles. Here are four series worthy of Emmy Award consideration for their feats of casting.

Judge Steve Harvey . (ABC/Erika Doss) Steve Harvey Judge Steve Harvey was destined to be different from the spate of other “reality justice” shows that have been on the air, from The People’s Court to Divorce Court to Judge Judy. After all, it featured comedian Steve Harvey — a man without a single day of formal legal education — as its arbiter. As the show moves into its second season, Harvey says he’s still focused on making sure the show is funny, but he feels like he’s also proven his worth when it comes to making rational legal decisions. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Wonder Years, Season 1, Episode 1, “Pilot.”] Although it takes place in the same era (the late 1960s), ABC’s reboot of The Wonder Years is telling a different story from the original as the focus shifts from Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) to Dean Williams (Elisha “Ej” Williams). While Dean is a bit like Kevin because of his awkward youth, there’s a distinct difference as the series looks at life within Dean’s relatively affluent Black community. The premiere focuses on Dean’s desire to find the place he fits best, a quest that’s harder to achieve than he’d originally thought. (Credit: ABC/Erika Doss) Viewers meet his best friends Cory Long (Amari O’Neil) and Brad Hitman (Julian Lerner), as well as the girl he’s got goo-goo eyes for, Keisa Clemmons (Milan Ray). Now attending class at a desegregated school, Dean has to contend with the attitudes...

The Hate U Give tackles serious issues about race with heart and honesty through the experiences of a black teen girl from a poor neighborhood trying to fit in at a mostly-white private high school, a balancing act upended when she witnesses the killing of a black friend by a white cop.
This is a powerful, engaging drama that everyone should see, for its effective balanced handling of some of society’s most difficult topics in our present society, as well as it’s moving story and wonderful performances, particularly by young Amandla Stenberg. It is particularly essential viewing for white audiences, for the insights and perspectives it offers.
Based on Angie Thomas’ young-adult novel, The Hate U Give rises far above other movies based on young-adult novels.
