Netflix recently confirmed that Season 2 of the One Piece live-action series would arrive in 2025, but now that information has disappeared. The original announcement appeared on Netflix Tudum, promoting a partnership with Lego. However, the website has since removed the release year from the article.
It’s unclear why Netflix changed the post. Maybe the release date was revealed too early, or it might not be set in stone. Either way, the update leaves us wondering when exactly Season 2 will drop.
The new season is already shaping up to be massive. Over 20 new cast members have been introduced, and we got a sneak peek at Drum Island and Chopper last September. Eiichiro Oda himself has promised that this season will be even better than the first. In a recent set tour video, Jeff Ward even hinted that it’s still coming this year.

"Star Trek: Section 31" takes the franchise on a road less traveled by bringing back "Star Trek: Discovery" standout Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) and putting her in charge of a heist. Unlike the "Star Wars'" take on the heist movie theme in 2016's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," the often more idealistic and pacifistic "Trek" opts for a far more light-hearted route. "Star Trek: Section 31" is B-movie trash in the best possible way, as the Academy Award winning Yeoh rocks her fallen tyrant character's new role as the head of arguably the most ragtag team a "Star Trek" project has ever given fans.
Among the key members of the film's Section 31 special ops team is the unpredictable and intense Fuzz, who probably wouldn't be a main character in just about any other "Star Trek" film. Fuzz is played by South African actor Sven Ruygrok, a rising star who's been making...

2024 is basically over at this point, so we've already started looking to 2025. It's going to be a big year for Netflix with so many highly anticipated releases, such as Stranger Things season 5, Wednesday season 2, The Night Agent season 2, Cobra Kai season 6 part 3, You season 5 and much more.
However, some beloved Netflix shows won't be returning in the new year for various reasons. We're talking about shows like Bridgerton, Outer Banks, 3 Body Problem etc. Then, there are some Netflix series that could come back with new seasons in 2025, but we're not totally sure. Obviously, we would want to see these shows as soon as possible, but it all depends on how long the filmmaking process takes and Netflix.
If the cast and crew can't finish the filmmaking process in time for a show to make a 2025 release, then we won't see it until the next year or possibly even later,...

One Piece season 2 will end at Drum Island, meaning the Netflix show has the chance to turn a joke anime character into one of its best villains. Easily Netflix’s best live-action anime adaptation, One Piece season 1 covered the East Blue saga and is now moving to Arabasta. Surprisingly, though, One Piece season 2 will not cover the actual Arabasta arc. It will instead only cover Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island, thus saving the Arabasta segment for season 3. This means that Drum Island will be even more important in live-action.
The fact that Drum Island will be One Piece season 2’s final arc means that it will have to deliver not only a good adaptation of Chopper’s origin story but also a set of episodes that conclude the season on a high note. In season 1, the fight against Arlong for Nami’s freedom was the closing act of the story,...

The debut of Tony Tony Chopper in live-action will be even more important than expected thanks to One Piece season 2’s Arabasta decision. With One Piece season 1 ending after Arlong’s defeat, it was easy to predict where the Netflix show was going to go next. While One Piece season 2 is indeed adapting the Arabasta saga, the series will not cover it in its entirety, saving the actual Arabasta arc for the yet-to-be-confirmed season 3. In other words, season 2 will cover from Loguetown to Drum Island.
Earlier in 2024, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda revealed in an open letter to fans that One Piece season 2 was going to visit Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. Although the addition of Loguetown was expected – it was supposed to be in season 1 after all – the absence of Arabasta was surprising. Netflix’s One Piece is taking its time with the story,...

Figuring out which character ate the most powerful Devil Fruit in live-action One Piece will get a lot more complicated in season 2. During the first season of Netflix's live-action anime adaptation, only two characters with Devil Fruit powers were featured: Iñaki Godoy's Monkey D. Luffy and Jeff Ward's Buggy the Clown. Both Devil Fruits have their advantages, but Luffy's is clearly superior. The ability to turn one's body into rubber offers a dizzying array of attacking and defensive options, whereas Buggy's power to split his body is far more limited in scope.
The relative drought of Devil Fruit characters in One Piece season 1 only made Luffy seem more formidable. Enemies were immediately threatened upon realizing the Straw Hat captain had eaten one of the world's infamous cursed fruits, and Luffy's skill at wielding the Gum-Gum Fruit meant villains were generally right to be concerned. From the set to music, Eiichiro Oda’s series enthralled the audience with its first season. With a second season of live-action in the works, fans await the masterpiece with bated breath.
In an era of failed live-action series, One Piece serves as a reminder of just how authentic adaptations can be. While Season 1 was a complete banger, the second season is all set to notch it up as Oda confirmed.

The pirates and marines Luffy faced in Netflix's One Piece season 1 made a big impression already, leaving season 2 to up the stakes in the villain department. One Piece's season 1 villains changed the game of live-action anime adaptations. Traditionally, these productions don't have a high enough budget to make the high fantasy wonders of anime appear, in any way, real. This applies, in particular, to larger-than-life villains with dark transformation sequences and horror-inspired costumes.

Spoilers ahead for the One Piece manga/anime, on which the live-action show is based.
One Piece season 2 needs to make an important Nico Robin change, and the first season of the Netflix shows version of East Blue proves that it can be done. Among all the new One Piece season 2 cast additions is Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, whom Netflix is avoiding to call "Nico Robin." The live-action series will have the chance to portray Robin as a proper villain, at least for those not familiar with the source material, which should make her eventual redemption at the end of the Arabasta saga even better.
However, for that work, Miss All Sunday should have a bigger role in One Piece season 2 compared to her manga counterpart. The fact that One Piece season 2s story will not include Arabasta makes it even more important that key characters like Robin...

Netflixs One Piece has done an impressive job of bringing the world created by Eiichiro Oda to live-action, but the trickiest characters and storylines from the manga are yet to come. One Piece was never considered an easy anime to adapt to other media, which is why it was arguably surprising that the Netflix series worked so well. Hollywoods previous live-action anime adaptations had been mostly disappointing, but One Piece season 1 managed to both honor the source material and tell a story that new fans could connect with even if they werent familiar with the anime.
One Piece, as with most long-running shonen properties, becomes weirder and more fantastical as it goes on. One Piece season 1 made a significant change to Sanjis character, and the future of the Netflix live-action show is even more exciting as a result. One of the original Straw Hat pirates, Sanji joined Luffys crew toward the end of the East Blue saga after deciding to finally leave the Baratie and go after his dream of finding the All Blue. Between his suits and the cigar, Sanji has a distinctive look that makes him stand out even among One Pieces colorful set of characters. However, not everything about Sanji works.
Netflixs One Piece was expected to make changes to Eiichiro Odas manga, from the pacing of the story to which characters and locations would be featured. With only eight episodes to cover an entire anime saga, most of One Piece season 1s changes to the manga had to do with the pacing and how one arc tied into the next.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the One Piece manga.
After a strong first season, One Piece season 2 has high expectations to meet, especially regarding fight scenes. One Piece season 1 was as faithful to the source material as a live-action anime adaptation can be, getting not only the characters but also the world right. One aspect that could be even better in season 2 is the fight scenes, even more so because One Pieces villains and battles only get more impressive as the story goes on.
The best fights in One Piece season 1 combined practical and visual effects in a way that suited the style of Eiichiro Odas manga perfectly. For example, whereas Sanjis fighting style involves a lot of wire work and moves performed on camera, most of Luffys abilities can only be portrayed through VFX. Ward starts with a visit to costume designer Kerry Barnard before moving on speak with creator and showrunner Matt Owens, hair and makeup designer Amanda Ross McDonald, props master Egbert Kruger and production designers Tom Hannam and Max Gottlieb. You'll get to see some prop and location teases along the way, including the Twin Cape Lighthouse. Many were also hoping to see Jamie Lee Curtis bring the character to life, and Curtis let it be known that she would be lobbying to play the part… but it didn’t work out. Deadline reports that Curtis wasn’t able to fit the show into her schedule, since working on it would have required her to spend a couple of months in South Africa, where filming is taking place. Netflix’s One Piece has locked in two more actors for key Season 2 roles. In one of the series’ highest profile castings to date, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) has been tapped to play Dr. Kureha. Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent) is set to play Dr. Hiriluk in an almost perfect actor-character last name homonym.
The introduction of Dr. Kureha has been among the most anticipated elements about Season 2 of the live-action series based on Oda’s beloved manga. In Netflix's adaptation of One Piece, Buggy the Clown may have a smaller role in season 2. Buggy's future importance in the story is significant, as he becomes a major player in the manga. Netflix's One Piece can keep Buggy relevant by expanding Jeff Ward's role in season 2, deviating from the original manga for the live-action adaptation.
Jeff Ward's Buggy the Clown is not the most powerful villain in Netflix's One Piece adaptation, but he certainly made a strong impression. Despite being comprehensively beaten by Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates, Buggy hung around season 1 like a bad smell, even getting involved - somewhat unwillingly - in the final battle against Arlong. One Piece season 1's ending then set up Buggy's return when it showed him plotting revenge alongside fellow small-time pirate Alvida, who had a bone of her own to pick with the Straw Hat captain.

One Piece's live-action adaptation successfully brings iconic characters to life on screen, despite some criticisms.
