Cm Punk is no doubt used to his Ufc “career” being questioned by this point. A full one year has passed since the promotion signed him, yet despite plenty of talk from the promotion about Punk fighting in 2015, with multiple dates floated, his debut never took place – leading some fans to suggest that he would never fight in the octagon.
An injury to Punk during training didn’t help matters, and gave more fuel to the doubters, however the promotion has been steadfast that Cm Punk will fight.
Now, however, a current Ufc champion and former mutliple-weight class title contender have begun to question Punk’s appearance in the promotion. Or lack of appearance(s), more accurately. On the final Ufc Tonight of 2015, light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, and former title challenger and Ultimate Fighter runner-up Kenny Florian addressed the Punk situation. And according to Cormier,...

Cm Punk no doubt spent last night celebrating the Stanley Cup win by his hometown team the Chicago Blackhawks, but earlier on Monday he appeared on the Anik and Florian (that would Ufc commentators Jon Anik and Kenny Florian) Podcast to talk about his training and upcoming Ufc debut.
And, if Punk’s comments are any indicator, we might not be seeing him in the octagon any time soon.
According to Punk,
I’ve had zero talks with Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta, Joe Silva, anybody, about an opponent, about a date. I’m thankful for that because there’s zero pressure.
Beyond the lack of an opponent or date, he went on to say that;
There’s people on Twitter saying, ‘Oh, you’re never gonna fight.’ This was just announced in what, November, December? I’ve been training full time for like six months. As bad as I...

Ex-ufc fighter Kenny Florian says boxing's days are numbered ... and the number is 64 ... 'cause that's how many days are left until the Mayweather/Pacquiao showdown, which Florian tells TMZ Sports is the sport's last hurrah. Florian -- who was a Ufc badass from '05 to '12 -- was out at The Grove in L.A. when we asked him about the future of the other sport where guys break each other's faces. Check out the...

After the Ufc icon suffered a horrible, leg-bending injury on Dec. 28, stars and fans rushed to Twitter to express their shock over seeing such a gruesome incident, and also to send their prayers to the ailing fighter.
At almost the exact same time Anderson Silva hit the ground after breaking his leg during his Ufc title fight against Chris Weidman, stars, athletes, and fans took to Twitter to post their reactions. And because Anderson’s leg-bending break was the worst sports injury since Kevin Ware‘s bone-protruding injury in March, there were too many reactions of shock, horror, and sadness to count.
Anderson Silva’s Injury: Stars & Athletes React
Though some celebrities were tweeting about the gruesome injury, most of the notable reactions came from fellow athletes — including Joe Theismann, who suffered a horrific leg break of his own in the ’80s – who wanted to wish Anderson a fast and safe recovery:
Oh Wow!

Once in a blue moon a fighter arises from nowhere who really catches the eye of the Mma community. The cliché of the hype train is a term that best describes this. On occasion, they are very accurate and warranted – see Jon Jones, Lyoto Machida etc.
Sometimes fans like to claim that they saw fighters rise from obscurity to stardom, and the gargantuan rise of the aforementioned Jon Jones is hard to put into words; from a middle of the card scrap to short notice title fight in little over a month. Jones won the light heavyweight belt with an impressive victory against Shogun Rua, going on to defend his belt 5 times and clinching a Nike sponsorship deal in the process. Hype well and truly granted.
However, this article will look at those occasions when a fighter has a heap of potential and hype but has not been able to deliver.

The Ufc's Ultimate Fighter (Tuf) reality TV series returned to our screens last Friday night, but arrived with a twist -- as well as the fastest knockout in its history, at just eight seconds. While the show carried the same format and dangled the same prize at the end of it all, the action was, for the first time, live and pretty much uninterrupted and the season will, in time, be far more interactive than ever before, offering fight fans the opportunity to participate and dictate the fates of those inside the house.
A runaway success since its inception in 2005, this latest tweaking should ensure it remains as such, following the odd hit-and-miss season of late. With change comes a period for reflection, however, and now seems as good a time as any to remember and highlight some of the show's very best success stories, if only to provide inspiration...

Although the Ufc has travelled to Brazil twice in around six months, there can be little doubt that Dana White will want to take the promotion to South America sometime in the near future. For, like Ufc 134, the first main card of 2012 had something of everything for the 17,000+ capacity crowd and the millions of people who watched the event live across the globe: spectacular submissions, knock-outs, and a wealth of controversy both in and outside of the octagon.
The drama began early the previous evening when Dana White announced that American wrestler Anthony Johnson- who recently moved up a weight-class to middleweight- would fail to meet the agreed non-title limit of 186lbs. Eventually, although his opponent Vitor Belfort accepted the bout, Johnson- whose team had contrived a spectacular narrative of excuses for the fighter- weighed in at an almost preposterous 197lbs and had to weigh in again the next...

Anderson Silva Doesn't Care What You Think
Something happened during the third round of the Anderson Silva-Demian Maia middleweight title fight that pushed the main event into the Twilight Zone.
For the next 10 minutes Silva juked, jived, danced, ran, hid behind the referee and generally mocked Maia all the while fans rained down boos. Anderson was a predator, playing with his wounded prey and the crowd demanded that he finish the fight out of common decency, or at least act like he cared about being there.
At one moment, I fully expected Rod Serling to step out from behind the curtain with a cigarette in his hand to pass along a wise parable of a man destroying his reputation through his own hubris.
Depending upon who you read, Anderson is either a horrible jerk for "clowning around" or Silva is a supremely talented, yet woefully misunderstood martial artist.

With playoff implications hanging in the balance in the NFL, hot stove moves happening all over baseball and the grand spectacle of the Army/Navy football game, it was an excellent weekend for sports. But anybody who caught Ufc 107 on pay-per-view on Saturday night (December 12) was treated to the best set of performances of the weekend. The show was excellent from top to bottom (save for the typically dull Jon Fitch fight), and featured impressive performances from Frank Mir (who tapped out fellow heavyweight Cheick Kongo in just over a minute), Kenny Florian (who made Clay Guida bleed like a stuck pig before choking him out) and B.J. Penn, who put up a good argument for himself as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He took a skilled wrestler and striker in Diego Sanchez and made him completely impotent. Penn beat on him solidly for four rounds, and the...
