Alex is a sound designer and musician and started recording sound on his parents reel-to-reel machine at the age of 6. He spent over 10 years as a Sound Consultant to the motion picture film industry, providing sound services for over 200 feature films and commercials across Europe and Asia, including The Beach, High Fidelity, 28 Days Later and Shaun Of The Dead.
From his company, Dreambase Studios Alex has recorded and sound designed commercial films for companies including Amazon, Apple UK, Dyson Technology and Farming, Intel, Lloyds Bank, Mitsubishi, WHSmith and AHRC. He continues to provide production and post production services for short films, feature films, commercials, reality and for special events.
Alex has also directed and co-produced several corporate films for companies in the IT and property sectors. He has directed and produced a pitch for a new drama TV series and has optioned a book which he's turning into a screenplay for a TV series.
In 2016 he won Best Sound at the Bilbao Web Fest for his work on the first season of the hit web series Horizon and was also nominated for Best Sound in the same year by the Royal Television Society. In 2020 he won Best Sound at the UVFF for his work on a London-based short film called Another Day, dealing with mental health issues. In 2023 his work on the acclaimed Tommies short film won Best Sound at the Swindon International Film Festival.
He's a member of the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) and the Performing Rights Society (PRS). When he's not working on film projects he enjoys music making, cycling and long distance walking.
