Don McKellar’s The Grand Seduction starring Brendan Gleeson and Taylor Kitsch will open the 33rd Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Canada, set to run from Sept 12-19.
Organisers will screen more than 80 films in the Atlantic Canadian programme.
The CBC Atlantic Shorts Gala will present nine short films by Atlantic Canadian filmmakers, while the 2013 Rogers Special Presentations will feature Jay Dahl’s There Are Monsters and William D MacGillivray’s Hard Drive.
The Atlantic Focus Program features documentaries by Teresa MacInnes, Kent Nason, and Phil Comeau, thrillers from Greg Jackson and Benjamin Steven and a drama from Justin Simms.
“We are so fortunate to have such a vibrant and talented industry making important films for Atlantic Canada and the rest of the world,” said Atlantic Film Festival executive director Wayne Carter.
