A singer and performer from the time she was 5, Helenna spent her first year of college as a "jazz voice major." She has performed lead and supporting roles in a number of musicals and has sung in numerous vocal jazz groups.

Actor Nico Santos (Superstore, Crazy Rich Asians) is her cousin.
