Ryan's first acting role was Duncan in a high school production of Macbeth. After the first few minutes, he started laughing uncontrollably when his scene partner flubbed her line. Traumatized by the experience, he avoided any thespian endeavors for the ensuing 20 years until he redeemed himself with a rousing performance as Jerry in The Zoo Story and the rest is history. Ryan is enjoying his acting renaissance in film, TV, and commercials.
With a diverse portfolio, Ryan is known for his lead roles as the sympathetic Dad in "Learning", the slick gambler in "Bad Hand", and the doctor in "Helen's Last Love" (Scot Weaver). Voice-over work includes portraying the stern reviewer Frank Chin in "Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir" and the young suitor Y.C. Hong in "The Y.C. Hong Story" (Rick Quan Productions). His commercial work includes campaigns for Esplanade Resort, eBay - Global Impact, and Apple's Diversity & Inclusion. Ryan has modeled for Jackson Rancheria and Living the ROI Lifestyle.
In the theater, Ryan portrayed multiple principal roles as the bitter Wong Way, Chicago mobster Chin Wai, and New York gangster Jack Chin in "Shadows and Secrets", and an improvisational comedic role as the elderly suspect Mort Peacock in "Murder at the Masquerade".
Ryan's training includes Method, improvisation, and scene analysis. He brings a wealth of skills to every project and his dedication and versatility make him a standout talent in the industry.
