It's rather astounding to think just how big the Arrowverse once was. It grew from a single show that turned Green Arrow into Batman, and then became an expansive connected universe that was doing on TV what the Marvel Cinematic Universe was doing on film — only with way more crossovers.
Toward the end of the Arrowverse, we saw the launch of "Batwoman," a great show that featured one of DC's earliest lesbian superhero protagonists. The show followed Kate Kane, cousin of Bruce Wayne, who picks up the mantle of the Caped Crusader after Bruce's disappearance. But that was the first season; after that, Kate was replaced as the protagonist and the show cast a new lead. Initially, it was reported that actor Ruby Rose had departed from the show of her own will, on friendly terms with the studio, just a week after the first season wrapped up.

Paramount has prevailed in a ‘bidding war’ to secure Over Asking, from Batwoman showrunner, Caroline Dries.
Paramount has come out on top in the race to secure the rights to Over Asking, an erotic thriller that is said to have sparked plenty of interest among several studios.
The script for Over Asking was written on spec by Caroline Dries, the showrunner of the now cancelled Batwoman series. Coming up with the idea and penning it without being commissioned to by a studio seems to have worked in Dries’ favour, given that Deadline is reporting that the rights to the script sparked something of a ‘bidding war’, with Paramount coming out on top.
The synopsis for the film goes as such: ‘The movie’s story focuses on the frightening aftermath that follows a chance encounter between a seemingly perfect couple and a powerful female attorney.’
It certainly sounds like a good set-up for an erotic thriller.

Exclusive: In a highly competitive situation involving six parties, Paramount Pictures has snapped up rights to Over Asking, a sexual revenge thriller spec from Caroline Dries.
Both streamers and traditional studios were in the mix, as others who made offers included Amazon, Apple, Skydance, New Line and Sony, according to multiple sources, who said that the deal came in at north of seven figures.
Said to be a throwback in the vein of Paramount’s classic erotic thrillers, the film watches as a chance encounter between a seemingly perfect couple and a powerful female attorney leads the couple down a scary path that throws everything into jeopardy. Karen Rosenfelt (The Twilight Saga) will serve as its producer.

Los Angeles, Aug 12 (Ians) Actor Stephen Amell best known for his role in ‘Arrow’ as the superhero Green Arrow, has joined the picket lines of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikers just weeks after protesting their stance, as the actor had earlier proceeded to call their strike as very harmful to the industry.
The ‘Arrow’ star was spotted alongside his wife Cassandra Jean Amell in Manhattan on Friday, holding a picket sign and wearing a SAG-AFTRA Strong T-shirt. The actor had been heavily criticised for his comments against the strikers, as he had labeled it an “ineffective negotiation strategy”.
Since then though, Amell seems to have changed his stance, whether due to the high criticism he received or just a change of mind his unknown. As reported by Variety, the actor clarifying his stance said: “I support my union, I do. And I stand with them. I do not support striking.

When the Writers Guild of America went on strike May 2, the early days of the work stoppage saw scribes channel their creativity into picket signs that reflected their rage over such issues as AI and fair pay as their union went head to head with the studios and streamers that comprise the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
As the strike hits day 100 on Aug. 9, however, many writers have turned to new creative outlets that don’t violate the WGA’s rules of working on AMPTP-backed films and TV shows. While some struggle to write without external deadlines or after the picket line grind, others say they are content to remain busy making up for lost time with family.
The last strike, in 2007, lasted 99 days. This time, the studios and streamers were 90-odd days into the walkout before both sides agreed to even talk about talking again. So with no clear end in sight,...

Striking Writers Guild of America members expressed both tempered optimism and wariness Wednesday in response to the news that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers had reached out to restart talks amid stalled contract negotiations.
“I hope they’re serious, I hope that they are coming to this with a much more open mind than they had last time,” said three-time WGA negotiating committee co-chair Billy Ray (Captain Phillips), who is not playing that role this year. “I can tell you if they are, a deal will be made.”
Former WGA West president Howard Rodman added in a written statement: “One hopes that the AMPTP may at long last grasp that the cost of negotiating a fair deal is less than the cost of an ongoing strike. But Friday’s conversation is, quite simply, a single and very preliminary step.”

The Vampire Diaries has long been one of the top supernatural drama shows of all time. The series ran for eight seasons. And even after it went off the air, the universe stayed alive through spinoff shows, novels, and comic books. Over the years, The Vampire Diaries has been at the center of many fan conspiracies and controversies. In a 2015 panel interview, two years before The Vampire Diaries went off the air, executive producer Caroline Dries opened up about why she and the other producers decided to destroy “The Other Side” in the series.
What is ‘The Other Side’ in ‘The Vampire Diaries’?
“The Other Side” has an important place in the mythology of The Vampire Diaries. It is a supernatural dimension where the spirits of the dead reside in a type of limbo. “The Other Side” wasn’t given a name until the third season of the show, when...

If Jared Pedalecki and Jensen Ackles were the heartthrobs of The CW, Mark Pedowitz was its heartbeat.
When Nexstar announced its completed acquisition of (75 percent of) The CW on Monday, it installed board member Dennis Miller, a venture capitalist with executive stints at Sony, Lionsgate, and Turner, as the broadcast network’s new president. Pedowitz, who was chairman and CEO of the youth-skewing broadcast network for the past 11 years is out; he’ll stay in the game via the revival of his former production company.
Though The CW never quite soared like so many of its DC superheroes, the decade-plus under Pedowitz had its moments — and its misses. IndieWire looks back on both below.

Batwoman had its challenges; the first season focused on Kate Kane, the cousin on Bruce Wayne, who becomes Batwoman. However. Ruby Rose who played Kane exited the series and Javicia Leslie was cast as former convict Ryan Wilder as she protects Gotham City in the role of Batwoman.
Season three wrapped up in March.
Batwoman is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros Television.
Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not be seeing an S4. I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you. ❤️

“Batwoman” has been canceled at The CW after three seasons.
Series showrunner Caroline Dries shared the news on Twitter, writing “Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not be seeing an S4. I am bummed, but full of gratitude. “Batwoman” began airing on The CW in 2019, albeit with a different lead actress. Ruby Rose originally starred in the series, but exited after the first season. She later claimed that unsafe working conditions led to her exit, as well as issues with co-star Dougray Scott.
Javicia Leslie was then brought in as a new character to take over the mantle of Batwoman. The show also starred Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, Camrus Johnson, Victoria Cartagena, Robin Givens, and Nick Creegan.

The season 3 finale of Batwoman is finally here and if you think it arrived quicker this season than in prior seasons, you are correct! The series only had 13 episodes this season and while I enjoy Batwoman, the less episodes allowed the writers to focus on a stronger and more concise storyline. Let’s see if the finale can end the season on a high note!
What Happened This Week? It’s the Joker’s fault, right?
The season finale starts with a montage we have seen several times already, the Joker taking over the school bus and using the joy buzzer on a young Marquis, supposedly setting him down the path to darkness. What is new in this montage is the Joker revealing his master plan to Marquis on how he will destroy Gotham with nuclear waste,...

This week’s episode is the setup for next week’s season finale, yes, it’s already season finale time! The first half of the season was extremely strong while the second half has struggled recently to remain focus, especially since they shipped Renee and Poison Ivy off to an island, as they have not gone “all in” with Marquis as the main villain. Last episode helped that situation, but can this episode fix the problem with the new Joker?
What Happened This Week? Alice is Normal Again… Right?
Alice, after using the Joker’s joy buzzer, declares herself “normal” again and the psychiatric hearing for Alice/Beth agrees, so just like that, she is a free woman. So those prior crimes are forgiven? I am not sure the justice system works like...

Tormented by the hallucinations of men she’s maimed and killed, Batwoman villain-turned-antihero Alice (played by Rachel Skarsten) wants nothing more than to be “fixed” via one quick zap from the Joker’s Joy Buzzer.
With Alice’s mental health continuing to deteriorate and Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) also set on using it to cure her brother Marquis (Nick Creegan) of his maniacal Joker persona, the CW drama’s Season 3 finale (airing Wednesday at 9/8c) will find Alice reach her breaking point.

This season Batwoman has harvested Batman’s Rogue Gallery to increase the threat to Gotham by having copycats of famous villains running amok in the city. With Renee following her heart more than her head, we now have two versions of Poison Ivy in Gotham, but can the original and new and improved version co-exist? Let’s find out.
What Happened This Week? Two is Not Better Than One
Batwoman usually has several storylines in each episode, but this week’s episode revolved only around Pamela’s thirst for revenge and how Team Batwoman must stop her from opening a dam to unleash a tidal wave on Gotham. Before we get to that, let’s talk about Mary and how her allegiance changes based on who is paying attention to her that week.

Batwoman delivers a more focused episode this week and while a hike in the creepy woods is not usually a good idea for a cast of characters, it did make for an enjoyable episode. Let’s get to it!

Even though Renee Montoya brought Pamela Isley, aka the original Poison Ivy, back to life last episode, Pamela has no desire to become a “good guy” and walk off into the sunset with Renee. Pamela is back to murdering citizens of Gotham that she feels are harming the environment including murdering workers on an oil tanker as well as two fishermen that did not properly “catch and release” fish at a lake. Batwoman has been adding more horror-themed elements to the series this season and that continues this week as the scary-looking villain Professor Pyg is introduced. While Pyg may not be the most popular character in Batman’s Rogue Gallery, he has become more prevalent in the comic books in the last decade and usually brings the gore when he does show up. This The Flash: Armageddon article contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 8 Episode 1
“This is not a crossover,” showrunner Eric Wallace tells me via Zoom of Armageddon, the five episode event story that kicks off The Flash Season 8. “I cannot stress that enough. This is a five part special event, which means it’s a traditional graphic novel centered around Flash that’s a little bit bigger. A little bit more exciting, a little bit extra, the emotions are a little deeper, but it is not a crossover.”
That doesn’t mean that Armageddon isn’t big. It is. Five episodes, six heroes in addition to the Team Flash regulars, and one of the most legendary villains in Justice League history all turn up over the course of Armageddon. Just maybe not all at once.
“What I don’t want to do is get people ready for a scene with 20 heroes in...

Ruby Rose is doubling down on her comments of a toxic workplace on The CW's Batwoman.
The former Kate Kane actress has shed more light on her time on the set of the Arrowverse series.
The actress shared screenshots of emails she sent to her manager in February 2020 in which she said she was having issues on the show.
Rose said she was "so close to being done" with the series because of "the atmos [sic], the b.s, the investigation/surgery."
She further elaborated in a follow-up post.
"I meant walk today until I can get my breath and have a talk with SAG [Screen Actors Guild] and or Greg [Berlanti, producer] and just everyone except maybe Caroline [Dries, showrunner] to work this whole thing out."
Another email shared was allegedly from Greg Berlanti in which he had a positive response to her time on the show.
The actress then made some more allegations about showrunner Caroline Dries.

Another person associated with The CW's Batwoman is speaking out against Ruby Rose.
Alexander J. Baxter, who worked on Batwoman Season 1 issued a statement exclusively to Cbr to detail his experience of working with Rose.
Rose came forward this week with allegations of a toxic set, and Baxter has said there were various issues on the set, but they were thanks to Ruby.
Baxter detailed the other shows he worked on in the statement and said that scoring work on Batwoman was a highlight.
He called the production company professional and fantastic but said that the issues kicked off on the first day with Rose.
"Then came Ruby Rose," the statement says.
"From day one, where her supposed injury stopped her from doing 60% of her job, she began her first day on the show not acknowledging a single crew member besides anyone above the line."

Batwoman alum Dougray Scott “absolutely” refutes allegations made by his onetime TV daughter, Ruby Rose, about his on-set behavior.
Amid a sea of Wednesday-morning Instagram Stories, Rose admitted that she “fought people on set, yes, not because I wanted to but because I wanted safety” — yet “never raised my voice on a set” during her one-season run. Conversely, Kate Kane’s former portrayer alleged that Scott (who played Jacob Kane through Season 2) “hurt a female stunt double” and “yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted [and verbally] abused women.

Warner Bros TV has fired back against Batwoman star Ruby Rose following her accusations about her time working on the superhero series.
The company has now claimed Rose was fired from the show after complaints about her behavior.
Here is the statement:
“Despite the revisionist history that Ruby Rose is now sharing online aimed at the producers, the cast and crew, the network, and the Studio, the truth is that Warner Bros. Television had decided not to exercise its option to engage Ruby for season two of ‘Batwoman’ based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed and handled privately out of respect for all concerned.”
Rose hit headlines this week, over a year after her exit from the series, when she took to Instagram stories to address showrunner Caroline Dries Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions.
