Updated with Lx TV statement: Cat Greenleaf, the creator and host of USA Network’s talk show Talk Stoop, has filed a lawsuit against USA parent NBCUniversal, the show’s production company and her NBCU supervisor, saying she was fired because of her clinical depression.

The discrimination and breach-of-contract suit was filed today in New York Supreme Court “to hold Defendants accountable for their discriminatory conduct, and to be a voice for the millions of Americans who suffer from mental illness but for any number of reasons may not have the ability to stand up for their rights.” It names NBCUniversal Media LLC, its wholly-owned Lx Networks LLC, and Greenleaf’s direct supervisor Meredith McGinn.

A spokesperson for Lx TV Productions issued a statement tonight, saying: “Cat’s employment was terminated for legitimate, non-discriminatory reasons. The lawsuit is without merit.”

Someone new will sit on the steps of “Talk Stoop,” the long-running interview segment that has appeared for years on various NBC stations and the daytime schedule of cable’s USA network.

Nessa Diab, a top New York disc jockey and frequent MTV host, will make her first appearance on the program starting Sunday, April 8th, on NBC stations after “Saturday Night Live” and the program “1st Look.” She will be only the second person to host the quick-hit celebrity-interview vignettes.

She replaces Cat Greenleaf, the former traffic reporter who built the show out of features she used to do for Wnbc in New York. Greenleaf at one point booked and produced the program herself, often chatting with celebrities like Alan Cumming and Tim Daly on the steps of her Brooklyn home with a pet dog in tow. Syfy announced on Thursday that the franchise's upcoming fifth installment is titled Sharknado 5: Global Swarming. The film will focus on Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) and wife April Wexler's (Tara Reid) son getting whirled around the world in a tornado.

For nearly four years and over 350 interviews, Cat Greenleaf has been welcoming celebrities to her stoop in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn for "Talk Stoop," where they've dished on career highlights, current events and their latest projects.

Now Greenleaf is bringing her stoop to USA Daytime. Every weekday from 11 a.m. Et to 3 p.m. Et, Cat's interviews will air in short nuggets in between your favorite USA daily programming. She tells Zap2it that it's definitely not your average talk show.

"Part of what makes it so fun is it is outside, there is a dog, there is life happening around you," says Greenleaf. "It is not a sanitized environment. The coffee's always spilling out of the mug, crazy things happen. ... Certainly more fun for me to make than a classic talk show. I'm really happy for the set-up that we have."

New York — The USA television network is looking for laughs, and announced Thursday it will premiere its first-ever situation comedies next winter.

The two new series are set to debut around the same time USA begins showing reruns of ABC's "Modern Family." One sitcom, "Sirens," is about three emergency medical technicians from Chicago with personalities less impressive than their medical skill. Denis Leary, who starred in FX's "Rescue Me," wrote and produced the series but is not a featured actor.

"Playing House" stars Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham as two friends who draw closer when one of them has a baby.

The general-interest USA is one of the most-watched cable networks, mostly through strong one-hour dramas that do particularly well in the summer, when the broadcast networks focus more on reruns and reality.
