Damon Cardasis is a two-time Writer's Guild Award nominated writer, an Emmy Award nominated producer, and an award winning director. His work has won awards from around the world and earned a Golden Globe nomination for "Best Original Song" by Bruce
Springsteen.
Cardasis' acclaimed first feature script, "Saturday Church" was chosen as a "New York Times Critics Pick" and scored 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has won 18 awards from festivals around the world, was nominated for a GLAAD Award for "Outstanding Film - Limited Release" and was the runner up for the "Audience Award" at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it played in competition. It also played BFI London, Rome Film Festival and many others.
Cardasis produced Rebecca Miller's film "She Came to Me" (starring Peter Dinklage, Anne Hathaway, Marisa Tomei, Joanna Kulig and Brian D'Arcy James) which was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Best Original Song" and was chosen as the opening night of the 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
Cardasis produced the film "Maggie's Plan" (starring Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Julianne Moore, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Travis Fimmel) which was released by Sony Pictures Classics, was a "New York Times Critics Pick" and played Toronto, New York, Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals.
For television, Cardasis was nominated for an Emmy for producing the HBO documentary "Arthur Miller: Writer" which played Telluride Film Festival and New York Film Festival.
On Broadway, Cardasis produced the "Arthur Miller Centennial" (Bradley Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, Alec Baldwin, Ellen Barkin, Laurence Fishburne, Tony Kushner, John Turturro, Peter Sarsagaard).
Cardasis co-founded The Lower East Side Film Festival in 2009, which continues to showcase low-budget films from around the world. Past judges include: Ethan Hawke, Susan Sarandon, Rosario Dawson, Laverne Cox, Parker Posey, Marky Ramone, Denis O'Hare and more.
