Klaudia Kovacs is the daughter of Olympic swimmer, Eva Erdelyi, and a distant relative of Zoltan Latinovits, the Hungarian Laurence Olivier.
Film and Theater Director, Klaudia Kovacs' most well-known work is her eight-time-award-winning, Oscar contender, epic documentary, Torn from the Flag. The film is about the Cold War, the decline of communism, and the 1956 Hungarian Freedom Fight that was a remarkable turning point for the advancement of democracy. According to several critics and historians, Torn from the Flag is "the best film" ever made about this topic, and the European press declared the movie to be "Hungary's most successful documentary."
Klaudia Kovacs made her film with Oscar-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond and legendary cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs. The following political notables appear in the movie: Mikhail Gorbachev, Ronald Reagan, Henry Kissinger, Otto von Habsburg, and George Vassiliou.
The premiere was in Hollywood, in the American Film Institute's film festival, AFI Fest. It was screened in the "Milestones" section-described as "celebrating the best of the best" along with films by Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni. Tickets for the premiere sold out in 45 minutes, and the documentary received a standing ovation.

It features former White House cabinet member Henry Cisneros, two-time Harvard graduate and syndicated CNN columnist Ruben Navarrette Jr., multi-award-winning writer of "Sesame Street" Luis Santeiro, and multi-award-winning actor Esai Morales.
As a writer, Klaudia Kovacs has authored a biographical book, co-authored three volumes, and as a journalist penned close to 200 articles. Her books were ordered by 400 libraries around the globe.

- In 2010, Filmmaker Klaudia Kovacs, was the first person in the United States to organize a fundraiser for the victims of the Red Sludge Toxic Spill in Hungary. According to the Washington Times, "this disaster was nearly as great as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill." By screening her film, Torn from the Flag, she raised half a million forints (Hungarian currency) in one evening.
