Shek Hwei loved drama and movies, and praticed music, piano, ballet and
painting lessons when she was young. In 1951 she joined Great Wall
Movie Enterprises. Her performance in "Father Marries Again" began to
raise her fame. Then she became popular with the film "Honeymoon" and
"Aren't the Kids Lovely?". During her 20 years of being an actress, she
had shown the talent of playing lovely innocent girl, like in "Parents'
Love", "When You Were Not With Me", "Actress Pearl", "Thunderstorm",
"The Lost Pearl" and "Mud Child" which were her representative
performance. Shek Wai and Fu Chi became lovers after working together
in lan hua Hua and got married in 1954. After 1980, Shek Wai became the
officer of Actor's Studio for the Great Wall Movie Enterprises,
Chairperson of the South China Film Industry Workers Union and
representative of the National People's Congress of the People's
Republic of China. In 1981 she held recitals in Beijing, Shanghai and
Fuzhou, she also recorded discs and held painting exhibitions.
