Undercover Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). officer, who was identified as a CIA operative in a newspaper column by Robert D. Novak on July 14, 2003. The ensuing political controversy, commonly referred to as the Plame affair, or the CIA leak scandal, led to a Justice Department investigation and numerous indictments within the administration of President George W. Bush.

Joined the CIA as a recruit in 1985.
