"You can't make me better from Izzy dying." Dark Sky Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Booger, which is actually the name of the (missing) cat in the film. Phew. It's not actually about the other boogers up our noses, thankfully. This originally premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival last year and arrives on VOD in the US this September. After the death of her best friend Izzy, Anna focuses all her attention on Booger, the stray cat which she and Izzy took in. When Booger bites her, she begins to undergo a strange transformation. Bogger is a body horror comedy described in reviews as "a must-watch for horror connoisseurs who prefer horror films that make them think." Grace Glowicki stars as Anna, with Garrick Bernard, Heather Matarazzo, Marcia DeBonis, Sofia Dobrushin, Jordan Carlos, and Richard Perez. This looks super weird, extra kooky, another creative...

Phoebe Robinson, who created and co-hosted the 2 Dope Queens podcast, discussed how she stays healthy and her dream Valentine’s Day date, in an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers at the Red Dress Concert on Wednesday night in New York City.
The podcast was hosted by Jessica Williams and Robinson and featured female comedians, comedians of color and LGBTQ+ comedians to elevate people from different backgrounds.
Her television show, Everything’s Trash, debuted on Freeform last summer. It stars Robinson as a podcast host going through the troubles of adulthood while her older brother (Jordan Carlos) runs for office.
“I carry a lot of tension. I’m a writer. I sit at my desk, I’m always stressed out and I travel a lot, so I try to do a little bit of yoga, a little bit of Pilates, spending time with friends. My key thing is to de-stress.

Freeform has canceled comedian Phoebe Robinson’s comedy series “Everything’s Trash,” Variety has confirmed. The show premiered on July 13 and ran for 10 episodes leading to the Sept. 7 series finale.
Based on Robinson’s 2018 book entitled “Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay,” the comedy followed 30-something famously outspoken podcaster Phoebe (Robinson), who is said to “make her mark on the culture while living a broke and pleasantly messy life in Brooklyn. After her seemingly perfect older brother declares for public office, she’s then forced to embark on her adulting journey.” Nneka Okafor (“NCIS: New Orleans”), Toccara Cash (“Station 19”), Jordan Carlos (“The Nighly Show with Larry Wilmore”), and Moses Storm (“Arrested Development”) also starred.
In addition to creating and writing the series, Robinson also served as an executive producer alongside Jonathan Groff. Jose Acevedo and Lauren Bans co-executive produced. Laura Gutin executive produced with Chioke Nassor, who also directed an episode.

Exclusive: Freeform will not be ordering a second season of Everything’s Trash, its comedy series starring, written by and executive produced by 2 Dope Queens’ Phoebe Robinson.
Everything’s Trash, which premiered July 13 and wrapped its first season run Sept. 7, was Freeform’s least watched and lowest rated original series in linear ratings this year. The majority of viewing for Freeform series comes from Hulu but the network does not reveal streaming viewing data, so it is unclear whether the comedy got traction on digital.
Based on Robinson’s book, Everything’s Trash follows Phoebe (Robinson), a 30-something podcast star navigating her messy life. Forced to grow up when her older brother Jayden emerges as a leading political candidate, she relies on her friends and close-knit family to help her figure out adulthood.
The series also stars Jordan Carlos, Toccarra Cash, Nneka Okafor and Moses Storm.

There's, of course, nothing funny about the shocking wave of state governments working to strip trans people of their rights. Why, then, was it a recent topic of conversation on the June 15 episode of Michelle Buteau and Jordan Carlos's comedy podcast "Adulting?" During the episode, recorded live (as some of "Adulting"'s installments are), guest Alok - a gender non-conforming writer - emotionally discussed some of the recent actions taken against supporting trans people in their home state of Texas. Alok mentioned their book, "Beyond the Gender Binary," is being targeted among publications the Texas Republican legislature wants to ban. Then, they followed up that harrowing fact with a joke about Marie Kondo's "Spark Joy" home tidying guide somehow being omitted from the ban list.
Pairing levity and humor with thoughtful discussions of some of society's most pressing issues is not a new concept, but it is one that Buteau,...

Phoebe Robinson, the stand-up comedian who with Jessica Williams co-hosted the podcast-turned-hbo series “2 Dope Queens,” is ready to bring her audio skills back to the screen.
Robinson is the creator and star of the upcoming Freeform comedy “Everything’s Trash,” which is adapted from her 2018 essay collection “Everything’s Trash, but It’s Okay.” She and showrunner Jonathan Groff leaned into the humor of “Sooo Many White Guys,” her solo spinoff of “2 Dope Queens,” while developing “Everything’s Trash,” in which Robinson plays a fictionalized version of herself that she affectionately refers to as TV Phoebe.
Groff “had listened to some episodes of ‘Sooo Many White Guys’ and really liked the rapport that I had with my producer, Joanna [Solotaroff],” Robinson says. “We wanted to replicate that, because we felt that TV Phoebe’s superpower, and my superpower, is being an empath — highlighting what’s special about someone and then zeroing in on that.

Phoebe Robinson once dreamed of having her own scripted half-hour comedy series. That dream is now a reality. Based on her 2018 book of the same name, "Everything's Trash" follows the "2 Dope Queens" podcast cohost as a 30-something fictionalized version of herself named Phoebe Hill as she navigates her beautifully messy life. However, when her older brother, Jayden (Jordan Carlos), decides to launch his political career, Phoebe is forced to grow up with some support from her family and friends.
"It feels so exciting," Robinson, 37, tells Popsugar of fulfilling her years-long sitcom goal. "I keep pinching myself, because I'm just like, 'It's happening. It's all happening.' I'm so pumped, and this is just the show and the story that I wanted to tell. As someone who used to watch TV all the time as a kid up until now, I'm just happy that I get to have a show that's part of this TV landscape.

Phoebe Robinson was willing to go the distance for her art in the making of new comedy series “Everything’s Trash,” premiering Wednesday night on Freeform, and that included getting into a very specific headspace to interact properly with a very, very, very large owl.
“You just be very calm. That’s the thing — they were like, ‘Just be very calm because animals can sense anxiety and all those like angsty emotions, so just be chill,'” Robinson told TheWrap of how she prepped to interact with the wide-eyed winged creature for an upcoming episode (no spoilers on how the character of Phoebe lands in a situation involving the owl).
“The handler was great. … I was like, ‘Oh, this is pretty cool.’ And I started talking to it and I was like, ‘You know, I think I might want to hold an eagle next,’ and everyone’s like, ‘Calm down, bitch.

Everything’s Trash is, first and foremost, an excellent showcase for the towering charm of executive producer and star Phoebe Robinson. As Phoebe Hill, a broke 30something podcaster trying halfheartedly to get her act together in Brooklyn, she’s basically impossible not to like, even though the entire series revolves around her being (as she puts it) “hella messy.”
Case in point: In the premiere, Phoebe nearly derails her brother Jayden’s political campaign launch when she’s caught sleeping with a member of his rival’s team, and then adds to the mini-scandal with a very public wardrobe malfunction. Yet the drama of it all only makes Phoebe seem more lovable — simultaneously relatable and aspirational. A lot of us, after all, have hooked up with people we maybe shouldn’t have; most of us only wish we could bounce back from it with Phoebe’s confidence,...

On “Everything’s Trash,” the insecure but brash podcaster Phoebe (Phoebe Robinson) has been invited to speak at a college lecture series; the professor who brought her describes her as “a digital ouroboros” and “a culture-maker extraordinaire.” Understandably, she’s a bit nervous, especially when asked by another, obviously snobbish teacher present what her project is, what she’s trying to say. Phoebe responds this way: “You, professor, are trash. So is that lady, and that dude, and these little meatballs on sticks.” She waves an hors d’oeuvre for emphasis. “All pure hot, and cold, garbage. Actually, everything’s trash.”
Phoebe goes on to say that “diving into the muck” allows us a chance of “surviving the dumpster fire that is our world” — that acknowledging that everything is bad allows us, perhaps, to work toward making it better. It’s a reasonable project, one that could potentially be carried over...

Each team consists of a contestant and a celebrity player, with executive producer Jimmy Fallon leading one team and a rotating guest leading the other. The series premiere will see Fallon compete against Hamm in an episode dedicated to Betty White, a frequent player on the original “Password” and the wife of the show’s original host Allen Ludden.
In addition to Hamm, Yvette Nicole Brown, Tony Hale, Chelsea Handler, Heidi Klum, Joel McHale, Chrissy Metz, Martin Short, J.B. Smoove and Meghan Trainor have been confirmed...

After two years of virtual operations due to Covid, AMC Networks is convening an in-person upfront presentation tonight in New York, where it will highlight a number of digital ad initiatives.
It has set a new slate of digital originals under its two-year-old Content Room brand studio; added six new “Fast” channels to its roster; and unveiled a new suite of ad tools.
The new channels join eight existing ones available on streaming platforms like Pluto TV, Sling TV, Samsung TV Plus, Vizio, Plex and Comcast Xumo. Fast stands for “free, ad-supported television” and is a growing part of the streaming ecosystem designed to take advantage of the overall uptick in viewing. (Nielsen today said streaming view time has risen 18 over the past year.)

Jenny Slate and Charlie Day are a couple of scheming exes invading Valentine’s Day 2022.
Amazon Studios has set a global digital release for “I Want You Back,” the new romantic comedy starring Slate and Day (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”). It hits Prime Video this Feb. 11, just in time for cupid.
The stars play Emma and Peter in the new film, two souls who thought they were on the precipice of life’s biggest moments – marriage, kids, and houses in the suburbs — until their respective partners dumped them. In their thirties and terrified that they have missed their shot at happily ever after, Emma and Peter are further horrified to learn that their partners have already moved on.
With no prospects on the horizon and the threat of dying alone hanging over their heads, they hatch a desperate plan to put an end to their exes’ new relationships and win them back.

From racial stereotypes to issues regarding consent in fiction, to the news media’s treatment of pop stars, there has been a recent cultural reckoning forcing a closer look at past problematic depictions and behaviors. While for some the answer is to pull a property from being readily available, burying it in the depths of history, for others, namely AMC Networks, showing the original property through a new lens has been key.
Their “Can We Talk About This?” video initiative, which originally launched in late 2020, is designed to acknowledge what may have been acceptable at one point in history is not now and perhaps never should have been. These short, stylized videos featuring original film clips alongside new discussions between host Jordan Carlos and a slew of guests comment openly on specific elements of a modern classic film airing on AMC’s linear network. I’ve got a fun sci-fi short film for you to check out today called Alpha Squadron. The film tells the story of a space fighter pilot squadron leader who is trying to keep his group of friends together as they grow apart.
The movie was written and directed by Michael Lukk Litwak who made the film using 100% practical effects. That includes the creation of miniatures and liquid nebulas. The short comes off as being a little silly, but I actually really dig the visual designs and effects. It works for the story and it’s just style of the film. I dig it!
The movie stars Griffin Newman (The Tick), Sunita Mani (Glow), and Jordan Carlos (Adulting). Watch Alpha Squadron below and let us know what you think!

"Who's up for a round of space beers?" "Space beer! Space beer!" Here's another funky, fun new sci-fi short film from filmmaker Michael Lukk Litwak. We previously featured his other funky sci-fi short The Life & Death of Tommy Chaos & Stacey Danger in 2014, and he's back again with another cool short film. Alpha Squadron is about a group of fighter pilot friends who start to fall apart after one of them leaves to go to grad school. Sound familiar? That same ol' story of friends growing up and growing apart. Starring Sunita Mani, Griffin Newman, Jordan Carlos, Will Dagger, and Sebastian Conelli. Most of the spaceships are miniatures which is why this is so clunky, but also why it's so cool. Always enjoy this kind of unique vibe. Thanks to Short of the Week for the tip on this. It’s nostalgia time at the ole’ multiplex once again. So, is it a tender coming of age story set in the 50’s, or a raunchy comedy with the stoners of the 60’s? Nope, it’s a family “dramedy” set in the long ago 1990’s !?! Aw, come on! I can get the 80’s “throwbacks’ with TV shows like “The Goldbergs” and “Stranger Things”. And this Summer’s big animated hit Despicable Me 3 even has a villain (Balthazar Bratt) whose whole schtick was that tacky decade. But the 90’s already? Excuse the venting, I know I now know how my folks must’ve felt about “Happy Days” in the 70’s. Despite the era, this new flick seems closer to the NYC intellectual upper class (upper East side) quirky slice of life cinema forged by Woody Allen. So. let’s set the cinema “way-back” machine to 1995, when few folks had cellular phones,...

When it comes to romantic comedies these days you tend to either get the big Hollywood films with big names and often a lack of real connection, or you get the indie ones with lots of talking. Sleeping with Other People finds its place between these styles, with surprising success.
Jake (Jason Sudeikis) is a good-natured man who is a womaniser, and Lainey (Alison Brie) is obsessed with her first love (or at least the one she planned to lose her virginity to). When the two form a platonic relationship to help them deal with their disastrous love lives the signs are all there that an attraction between the two are forming.
