Over the past 30-plus years that Jon Macht has spent building his career, his resume includes writing, directing, producing, editing and working in all aspects on films and television shows that are instantly recognizable.
Macht worked as a vendor and in production for 16 years on shows including American Idol, Motown Live, Star Trek Enterprise, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Babylon 5, Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, the Academy Awards, the Emmy Awards, and on hundreds of episodes of television and on feature films. Macht worked on films including Steven Spielberg's An American Tale, Sylvestor Stallone's Rambo III, and Rob Reiner's Stand by Me.
Prior to founding his own company, Macht worked in the talent and literary agency business at Agency for the Performing Arts and United Talent Agency.
Macht began his career as a freelance sports writer for The Washington Post at age 19, which led to writing for TV and radio at ABC, NBC, and CBS sports and eventually where he wanted to be -- film.
Macht studied filmmaking at the University of Southern California Graduate School of Cinema-Television in Los Angeles and communications at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Macht was born in Hagerstown, Maryland to father Dr. Stanley H. Macht, a radiologist and mother Naomi Macht, a homemaker. He grew up in Hagerstown, graduating from North Hagerstown High School.
