Laia Alvarez

Laia Alvarez was born in Barcelona. She graduated in Journalism at UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), worked many years as a freelance reporter and became member of the NIDS (new institute of dramatic writing), in collaboration with Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.
After passing through radio, she realized that her heart was beating for playing. In 2016 she graduated in Drama Studies at Michael Tschechow Studio in Berlin. She took acting lessons with F. Sloan and T. Pough (Actors Ensemble New York) and went back to Spain to improve her camera acting skills. She took coaching lessons at Estudi Laura Jou with G.Oms and trained on Chubbuck method with Frank Feys, among others.
After theatre and dance theater projects in Berlin (Tanzfabrik, Theater Forum Kreuzberg, etc), her debut in the mother tongue was playing the role of Candela, on the Catalan series 'Com si fos ahir' (2019), directed by Sònia Sánchez, and broadcasted by TV3.
