- Alex Pereira is a Brazilian Mixed Martial Artist. He fought in Glory Kickboxing and became the promotions first double champion in history. He won the Glory Middleweight Championship in 2017, he then became the Glory interim Light Heavyweight Champion in 2019. He unified that title in 2021 to become the Undisputed Glory Light Heavyweight Champion. He was signed to the UFC in 2021 and made his debut at UFC 268 which he beat Andreas Michailidis via 2nd round TKO. It only took him four fights to get a shot at the UFC Middleweight championship. He fought his longtime rival Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 in Madison Square Garden. Pereira beat Adesanya twice in Kickboxing before they were in the UFC, once by KO and another by a close decision. Adesanya became the UFC Middleweight Champion in 2019 and Pereira dethroned him via 5th round TKO in 2022. Pereira won the UFC title only 1 year and 6 days after entering the UFC, he had one of the fastest title runs in UFC history. In 2023 Adesanya KO'd Pereira at UFC 287, after that fight Pereira decided to move up to the Light Heavyweight division. In 2023 Pereira beat the Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jirí Procházka at UFC 295 to win the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight championship. Pereira became the 9th double champion in UFC history, he has defended his Light Heavyweight title 3 times since winning it, all of those defenses he won via KO/TKO. Pereira became the Fighter Of The Year in 2024 at the World MMA Awards after having 3 title defenses in 2024.
