- Sh'Kia is an American actress, writer, producer, and singer born to an African-American mother and Jamaican father. She was born and raised in small-town Oakland, Florida, where she began singing in the church choir from a young age.
Sh'Kia most recently appeared on Tyler Perry's Caught Up (2023), streaming on BET+. She is best known for her lead role as the young drill rapper Malika 'Kold' Wise on WEtv and AllBlk's scripted urban musical drama Kold x Windy (2023). She appeared in the first episode of the final season of Atlanta (2016): The Most Atlanta (2022), directed by Hiro Murai, sharing the screen with Donald Glover and Zazie Beetz.
Sh'Kia is a staff writer on CLEO TV's Tough Love: Atlanta (2022). Her pilot scripts have placed in various screenplay competitions, including as a Quarterfinalist in Screencraft for her erotic drama pilot Forbidden Fruit and as a finalist in WeScreenplay: Diverse Voices for her teen/family dramedy Hush, Little Baby. She wrote and co-produced the web series, Kinfolk: The Series (2023), which was officially selected and screened at the 2022 Los Angeles Black Film Festival and officially selected into Tribeca's 2022 Creator's Market.
In February of 2024, Sh'Kia self-published her author debut, "Quiet Storms of a Flawda Girl's Diary: Some Almost Entirely Untrue Short Stories." Sh'Kia draws from her experiences growing up in a small town in Florida and her fascination with "A Writer's Diary by Virginia Woolf," "The Vagina Monologues," and "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf."
Sh'Kia played the flute in middle and high school bands and attended Florida Atlantic University on a music scholarship to perform in the marching, pep, and symphony bands. Her writing journey began at FAU during her tenure as the President of the Black Student Union. She co-wrote and directed a stage play, "The Makings of a Man: Penis Monologues," which was showcased for the student body. She went on to graduate with a BBA in finance and music business.
