It’s been exactly one year since the first wave of allegations against Harvey Weinstein were published, ushering in an era that has seen countless other men accused of sexual misconduct. Many of them have been fired, exiled, or ostracized as a result, but one figure whose career seems to have been relatively unaffected by the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements is Steven Seagal. That may be at least in part because he’s already considerably less prominent than he was in his heyday, but the fact remains that the actor has been accused of sexual harassment and rape by several women.
After being asked about those allegations during a BBC Newsnight interview with Kristy Wark, Seagal promptly exited.
“You obviously spend a lot of time in Russia, you spend a lot of time in America, you’re making films and so forth. In terms of your life in America,...

Hollywood has been keeping the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office awfully busy this summer. According to the New York Daily News, local law enforcement has handed the Da’s sexual assault task force three new cases for review. Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Police Department forwarded the Da their investigations into allegations of sexual assault made against comedian Anthony Anderson, as well as action star Steven Seagal. And in June, according to the Daily News, the Beverly Hills Police Department handed the task force yet another case against Harvey Weinstein,...

Steven Seagal has denied ex-Bond girl Rachel Grant’s accusations of sexual assault that took place in 2002 at a film rehearsal in Bulgaria. Through his lawyers, who spoke with the BBC, the action movie star has denied Grant’s assault accusation as well as another claim by the actress that he tried to indecently expose himself. “I want to share what happened to me, so people will hear it and others might come forward,” Grant told the BBC in a previous interview. The British actress said she was flown to Sofia to rehearse lines with Seagal in September 2002 after auditioning for a role...

The Red Princess Blues is a short film from The Enigma Factory, which is approximately ten minutes long. The short is meant as a promotional piece for a larger production and starring are Richard Tyson (The Fear Chamber), Tabithat Morella ("Two and a Half Men"), Rachel Grant (The Tournament) and narrator Robert Forster. Visually stunning, mature, and creating excitement through action sequences, the Red Princess Blues is like watching a darkly written fairy tale. To move towards a feature length film soon, this is a film to watch simply for the visual appeal.
The film begins along the lines of a "Little Red Riding Hood" story, where a young girl encounters a much larger and more worldly wolf in the form of a travelling carnie. Corrupted with shots of Bourbon and tales of sexual expectations, Little Red Riding Hood aka Zoe (Morella) gets bitten quickly. However,...

In what may very well be a first, or at least a second or third, director Alex Ferrari is bringing the action straight to the people, releasing his new live action short Red Princess Blues, plus an impressive array of bonus features, as an app in the iTunes store. Basically, for ninety nine cents you get the full eleven minute short plus a full slate of DVD style bonus features to see how Ferrari and co pulled this off on a tiny budget while he gets, hopefully, some attention and a bit of money back to help mount the feature version of the story.
We first came across Ferrari a good number of years ago thanks to his previous short film Broken, a hard edged action thriller pulled off with remarkable style on an even more remarkable shoestring budget. Since Broken, Ferrari has been working hard to get this one...

Once every seven years, thirty of the world’s most deadly assassins gather together and fight for the grand prize of ten million dollars – there can be only one winner, only one survivor.
Normally this genre of Battle Royale-esque movie is set on an exotic island, or a mystic m’larkey temple, and here’s why I knew I was in for something different right from the start, The Tournament is set in no-m’larkey-at-all working class Middleborough, in the rainy North of England. Scott Mann’s action packed debut feature stars Robert Carlyle as a drunken priest mistaken for a hitman, and the beautiful Kelly Hu as a real hit woman. For a $12 million budget, you get a good bang for your buck. There are a...

In “The Tournament”, Robert Carlyle plays a small-town priest who gets unwittingly dragged into a bloody tournament taking place covertly in his town. Okay, it’s not all that covert, there are guys running around with sniper rifles and bazookas trying to off each other. Actually, it’s pretty obvious, which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but there you have it. Here’s a clip from Scott Mann’s actioner “The Tournament”, featuring Carlyle’s character as he finds himself in the crosshairs of some killer types. Every seven years in an unsuspecting town, The Tournament takes place. A battle royale between 30 of the world’s deadliest assassins. The last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No 1, which itself carries the legendary million dollar a bullet price tag. Starring Ian Somerhalder, Ving Rhames, Robert Carlyle, Kelly Hu, Scott Adkins, Liam Cunningham, John Lynch,...
