Sonja Gould was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Cisca and Sean Gould who are both retired members of the Canadian Air Force. She is an actor, singer, dancer and drama instructor at Edmonton Musical Theatre, who grew up singing in choirs, dancing and acting in holiday school plays; eventually making her theatrical debut as the Blue Witch in her middle school's production of Sleeping Beauty: The Legend of Briar Rose. In high school she took drama classes and got cast as an ensemble member in Grease and West Side Story.
After graduation, Sonja took a year off to work. She came to realize something was missing and began applying for secondary education for the following year. She was accepted into St. Thomas University where she studied and graduated with a Major in English with a Concentration in Drama and a minor in Music. It was there that her passion for theatre ignited once again, and she became determined to follow her dream of becoming a professional actor. Getting word of a prepping program in Halifax, Sonja applied to audition for Neptune Theatre School for the class of 2011. She was accepted and began studying to be a triple threat for two years. She was cast in the productions of The Dining Room and Animal Farm: the musical.
After she graduated, she began working full time as a store manager and auditioned for local plays whenever her availability allowed it. In 2013, she auditioned and was signed by her first agent, Atlantic Talent. After a year, she noticed that opportunities were becoming scarce, so she packed up her life and traveled across Canada to work and study in Alberta's theatre, film and television industries. Since moving to Edmonton she has been cast in several short films, a feature film, local and national commercials, television series, web series and voice overs.
