Joseph Al-Ahmad

Joseph was born into a multicultural family of writers and academics in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has lived and studied acting in the United States. His mother is of Nubian-Sudanese and Bulgarian descent, and his father is from Damascus, Syria, with one part of his family being Christian and the other being Muslim, hence his mixed first and last name. He grew up speaking four languages and is fluent in American English, Bulgarian, Russian, and Levantine Arabic. His multicultural upbringing has given him a unique perspective evident in his work both in front and behind the camera, often portraying bilingual characters. He is a graduate of the world's oldest film school, the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, having received both a BFA and MFA in Film Studies and Theatre in 2020.

Joseph has worked closely with such names as Peter Billingsley, Erinn Hayes, Julie Hagerty on the set of the Warner bros. produced feature film A Christmas Story Christmas (2022). His most recent work includes Paramount Pictures' Man with No Past (2025), and in his supporting role of Ukrainian Sgt. Zinchenko in the upcoming William Kaufman war thriller Nightingale, alongside LaMonica Garrett and Andrew Howard.
