Simon Cowell has spoken about who may join him on the new X Factor USA series and of course, by clarifying some points he has just caused more speculation over others.
The music mogul revealed that there will be no less than four judges on his new panel and on what calibre of star he is looking for, Cowell told Fox’s Jane Yamamoto:
I have to make sure that I have a panel of judges who genuinely know what they’re talking about. They have actually got to know how to spot a star.
So addressing the rumours, here’s what Simon had to say about some of the singers he is reported to be courting.
Christina Aguilera: “She was mentioned but absolutely not.”
Jessica Simpson: “I’ve spoken to her.”
Shania Twain: “I’ve spoken to her, I’ve worked with her before.”
Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs: “Too expensive.

Simon Cowell has confirmed that he will have four judges on his new American X Factor series.
The music mogul was being interviewed by Fox’s Jane Yamamoto – for the TV network that will air his newest reality TV offering – and put an end to speculation that he will bring the show back to a three judge format.
When the interviewer asked if the format would consist of him and two other judges, he replied:
No Jane It’s not. It starts with me and three other judges darling!
But all may not be as it seems. Simon may reduce the panel at a later stage, possibly when he leaves to appear on the UK series and when asked to clarify that there will be three stars joining him he laughed:
That’s the start….essentially.
Names in the frame so far have been Cheryl Cole, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera and Paula Abdul.
