He was born Howard Lewis Morgan in May 1984 at West Middlesex Hospital in London. His father, Malcolm Morgan, from London's East End, worked at a brewery then later shop manager at a supermarket. His mother, Brenda Morgan, was an accountant and the driving force behind his artistic aspirations. She encouraged him, along with his sister, to study academically and gain financial qualifications. Howard is of English, as well as Welsh, Scottish, and Irish ancestry. His interest in acting was encouraged at first by his teachers at school who identified how he could hold the attention of his peers through story telling. From the age of 10, Howard started acting in school plays, making his debut in the Kings Furlong School production of "Evacuees".
