Ben Lemel
- Actor
- Writer
- Producer
Ben Lemel was born in the UK (Southend, Essex) and lives in Vancouver.
Back in 1991 Sir Derek Jacobi recommended Ben to THE ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY, and when Ben made a follow-up call, the casting director believed Ben actually forged Jacobi's letter and signature!
To give himself an edge over other actors, Ben pretended to be a courier driver and gate-crashed a highly respected UK casting director's office. Once inside, he introduced himself; "I'm Ben Lemel, I'm an actor, I'm the parcel!" The casting director screamed "Get out! Get out! Get out!". (Be reassured, he wouldn't gate-crash now).
Ben is a fearless and risk-taking actor, working on many TV productions. He started his career playing Terry Richardson in EASTENDERS, a role which was specially written for him by writer/director Tony McHale, who worked with Ben again in BBC's CASUALTY and the stage play STILL LIFE.
Ben appeared in the TV series THE BILL four times. Other featured roles have been in FAMILY AFFAIRS, LONDON'S BURNING, and with Richard E. Grant in BBC's THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL.
As a contrast to playing hard-man characters, Ben Lemel played the American character Clifford Anderson, in the classic stage play DEATHTRAP.
Ben was fortunate enough to work with the late George Cole and Joan Littlewood in BBC's Radio 4 play THE CHARGE OF THE BOYS BRIGADE.
In an interview, Ben Lemel mentioned Kubrick's THE SHINING as one of his favourite movies. He said "My dream role would be Jack Nicholson's part for sure".
