After the success of the original series, it was no surprise when Adventure Time: Distant Lands came to HBO Max in 2020 to flesh out some of the stories that were left to tell. For Adam Muto though, the characters of Fionna and Cake had a bit more story left than what could be told in a 44 minute special. So, in 2023, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake released on Max with a ten episode season that was well received enough to garner a renewal for season 2.

A spin-off of the 2010 animated series, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake follows Fionna Campbell (Madeleine Martin) and her cat Cake (Roz Ryan) who live in an alternate reality without magic. While Fionna spends her days at dead-end jobs and nights dreaming of magical lands, she and Cake are thrown into a multiverse-adventure when Simon Petrikov (Tom Kenny), formerly the Ice King, accidentally summons them to Ooo.

Adventure Time universe expands with feature film & two new series by acclaimed creators for fans of all ages. New projects include "Side Quests" and "Heyo Bmo" for fans both young and old, maintaining the heartwarming, whimsical Adventure Time tone. Cartoon Network Studios is expanding the Adventure Time universe once again. Revealed at the Annecy Animation Festival during the Warner Bros. Animation studio focus panel, the franchise is branching out with a feature film and two new television series.

According to Variety, the feature film, which is currently under development, has yet to reveal its full story details. However, it boasts a strong creative team. Rebecca Sugar, celebrated creator of Steven Universe; Patrick McHale, the mind behind Over the Garden Wall; and Adam Muto, the showrunner of Adventure Time, are all set to lend their expertise.

The world of One Piece contains some exceptionally powerful sword-wielders. As soon as Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro joins the Straw Hat Pirates, swordsmanship becomes a major part of the long-running series. In each arc, One Piece's protagonists encounter new swordsmen who can perform incredible feats thanks to a mix of Haki and Devil Fruit-related powers.

If Roronoa Zoro is to accomplish his goal of becoming the World's Strongest Swordsman, then he will have to defeat a slew of unbelievably powerful opponents. He's proved himself capable throughout the series, but in the Grand Line, there are plenty of candidates vying for the title.

Max has renewed “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake” for a second season.

A spinoff of “Adventure Time,” which ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2018, the series follows Fionna (Madeleine Martin) and her sidekick, Cake (Roz Ryan), who find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful new foe, leaving them with no choice but to seek the help of Simon Petrikov, the former Ice King (Tom Kenny). Other characters from from the original series featured in “Fionna and Cake” include Marshall Lee (Donald Glover), Marceline the Vampire Queen (Olivia Olson), Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch) and Finn the Human (Jeremy Shada). The cast also includes Andrew Rannells as Gary Prince, Sean Rohani as Prismo and Kayleigh McKee as the Scarab.

The news comes two months after showrunner Adam Muto told Variety he was unsure whether the show would continue, saying, “It’s in discussion. But the person who greenlit the first season is no longer at Max.

Finn and Jake’s alternate universe continues.

Max has renewed YA animated series Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake for a second season. The spinoff of the long-running Cartoon Network series launched earlier this year.

Lycoris Recoil, the hit girls-with-guns anime series from 2022, is making its English TV debut on Adult Swim's Toonami action block on Cartoon Network.

Announced at Anime NYC 2023, Aniplex of America revealed that the English dub of Lycoris Recoil will air on Toonami on Jan. 20, 2024. This will be the first time the series will air on English broadcast channels; previously, both the English sub and dub versions were only available on the Crunchyroll streaming site.

Kumail Nanjiani, who previously voiced Prismo in Adventure Time, did not reprise his role for the spinoff series Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, despite his willingness to do so. Nanjiani learned through a series of tweets that he was offered the chance to return, but his representatives declined the offer without informing him. Nanjiani expressed surprise and apologized for the miscommunication, vowing to have a discussion with his representatives about the missed opportunity.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake debuted on Max last week and some viewers have wondered why they did not hear Kumail Nanjiani (above) return as the voice of Prismo. The character is described as a Wish Master who is the manifestation of an old man's dream.

Actor Kumail Nanjiani, who previously provided the voice for Prismo in the hit Cartoon Network series Adventure Time, has reacted to being replaced in the new spinoff, Fionna and Cake.

The actor, known for his roles in the movies The Big Sick, and Marvel's Eternals, along with the television shows Silicon Valley and Obi-Wan Kenobi, has expressed disappointment over being recast as the voice role of Prismo in the new series at Max. Nanjiani, in a since-deleted post on X (formerly known as Twitter), mentioned his willingness to return without hesitation if given the opportunity.

In a screenshot of the X post, Nanjiani shared his love for the character, claiming he would even do the role for free. His post read: "Yeah that’s not me.

Kumail Nanjiani will not be returning to the Adventure Time universe in the new spinoff Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake and that’s because he was never informed of the offer to reprise his voice role of Prismo.

The new Max animated series will not have Nanjiani voice Prismo, something that the Eternals actor would have loved to have done again.

“Yeah that’s not me. I would have loved to have voiced Prismo again. He’s one of my absolute favorite characters I’ve ever had the honor of playing. He is very close to my heart,” Nanjiani shared in a since-deleted post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Unfortunately they never asked me to come back and voice him again. I would have done it for free.”

Showrunner Adam Muto replied to the actor denying that the production hadn’t reached out to offer him the Prismo role again.
