Monster movies have long held a captivating place in the landscape of cinema, offering audiences a thrilling escape into worlds inhabited by the unknown and the extraordinary. From the classic black-and-white horrors of the early 20th century to the CGI-enhanced spectacles of modern filmmaking, these films tap into primal fears and societal anxieties, reflecting cultural attitudes and human experiences. At their core, monster movies explore themes of fear, isolation, and the struggle between humanity and the monstrous “other.” Whether depicting the terror of werewolves or killer space aliens or the tragic story of a misunderstood beast, these films serve as a canvas for filmmakers to examine what it means to be human.

When the Avengers Almost Had a Different Lineup of Actors: The Surprising Story Behind Marvel’s Original Casting Choices! (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Before Chris Evans suited up as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, the role of Cap could’ve had a very different face. The casting process for The First Avenger was stacked with a crazy range of actors who almost snagged the part.
In 2010, when Captain America: The First Avenger was being cast, the paycheck was a modest $300k, and the role came with a six-film deal—nothing compared to what Marvel stars command today. But oh, how things could have gone differently. Chris Evans was far from the only one-eyed for the role of skinny Steve, and before Marvel locked him in, some surprising names popped up on the shortlist.
Actors like Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Will Smith were discussed early on, though neither seriously pursued the role.

For the horror heads among us, perusing a streamer's genre page can be a goldmine of camp opportunities or disturbing folk horror to keep us up at night, but it can also be home to some of the most tedious stories put to film. Whether it's an ill-advised continuation of a franchise or an adaptation in the wrong hands, even the mighty Netflix isn't immune to acquiring, producing, and/or distributing some stinkers. In fact, they tend to excel at it.
While Rotten Tomatoes isn't the be-all and end-all of movie criticism (and it almost seems to be trying to discredit it more and more), it can provide a quick temperature check to a movie's well being -- a helpful measure for all of us when considering how we want to spend our time rotting away on the couch. Mileage can vary on how much to trust the aggregated rating of a bunch of critics,...

As Hollywood continues its unflinching collective decision to mine intellectual property for all it's worth, that means every genre can expect to see revivals, remakes, and reboots simply to ensure that new generations can have new versions of iconic stories, regardless of whether new equals good. This week, for example, 20th Century Studios (now an arm of the Walt Disney Company) is bringing us back to space, where no one can hear you scream. Yes, it's time for another new "Alien" film, this one called "Alien: Romulus," from director Fede Alvarez, himself no stranger to remaking a beloved horror film. Does the new take on "Alien" stand tall among the other major horror franchise revivals? Is it as good or better than Alvarez's prior horror remake? Or should it be quickly forgotten? Let's count down the 11 major horror franchise revivals and see where this new take on the Xenomorph lands.

Hallmark’s latest Summer Nights movie My Dreams Of You is a magical romance starring Skyler Samuels and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist star Kapil Talwalker. “A woman dreams about a man she’s never met who was mistakenly inserted into her dreams by a clerical error in Dream Central. She tries to find him before any memories of each other are erased.”
This sounds a bit like a Hallmark version of the classic Warren Beatty and Julie Christie movie Heaven Can Wait. This movie will also appeal to those fans who love the Hallmark Hall Of Fame movie In My Dreams starring Katharine McPhee and Mike Vogel.

No one knows how to do a locker room scene quite like Sex/Life. Jaws dropped in Season 1 when Cooper (Mike Vogel) gets an unexpected eyeful of Brad (Adam Demos) during a little gym reconnaissance mission in Episode 3. After a very, um, direct peek at a nude Brad, Cooper suddenly understands why his wife Billie (Sarah Shahi) can’t shake her ex.
You didn’t think Sex/Life would overlook one of its greatest strengths in Season 2, did you? In the season finale, Cooper is back in a locker room — but in a very different mental state. He’s hit rock bottom in response to his breakup with Billie and finally made strides to better his life. Unfortunately, Cooper’s journey to self-improvement did include an unfortunate accident with best friend Devon (Jonathan Sadowski) that ended with a sex worker biting off Devon’s genitals.

2023 happens to be the 15th anniversary of the release of the creature feature Cloverfield (watch it Here), which was directed by Matt Reeves and spawned an anthology franchise, being followed by Dan Trachtenberg’s 10 Cloverfield Lane and Julius Onah’s The Cloverfield Paradox. Last year, Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari signed on to direct a new Cloverfield sequel from a screenplay by iBoy writer Joe Barton. The only information we’ve really learned about this new Cloverfield sequel is that, unlike the original film, it won’t be presented in the found footage style. But during an interview with CinemaBlend, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg revealed that the film is setting aside the anthology approach to be a direct sequel to the original film. He also said that it’s going to be “very cool”.

Remakes were all the rage in the 2000s. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Black Christmas, The Amityville Horror, House of Wax, The Crazies, My Bloody Valentine, The Hills Have Eyes – and the list goes on and on. And then there’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
A Platinum Dunes creation, the 2003 remake did what most remakes fail to do: honor the original while doing something wildly unique and equally as cool. Director Marcus Nispel, also behind the Friday the 13th remake, carves out a special place in the pantheon of horror by trusting his instincts and letting the cast play (and scream along the way). 20 years later, the bright spot in the sea of mediocre remakes still operates on all cylinders, and in many respects, outpaces the 1974 original.

For two seasons now, housewife Billie (Sarah Shahi) has been slowly losing the life she once knew in favor of chasing the high of her sexually adventurous youth. In Netflix's "Sex/Life," Billie finds herself torn between her reliable husband Cooper (Mike Vogel), and Brad (Adam Demos), the hunky Australian ex who wanders back into her life. Later, when the romantic house of cards she's built tumbles down completely, she ends up hooked on a new man, restaurant owner Majid (Darius Homayoun). "Sex/Life" definitely isn't Netflix's best show, but plenty of fans still like the "Sex and The City"-style series because it's a reliably steamy adult-oriented romance.
Apparently, though, Billie's wild ride has come to an end. Variety is reporting that the Stacy Rukeyser-created show "Sex/Life" has been canceled after just two seasons. Luckily, though, the show actually wrapped up most of its major plotlines in its latest season finale.

Sex/Life has been cancelled by Netflix days after the show’s star Sarah Shahi criticised the “gimmicky” second season.
Following the viral success of season one in 2021, Netflix’s erotic thriller returned for a second season in March. Shahi returned as series lead Billie Connelly, while Mike Vogel and Adam Demos (Shahi’s real-life partner) came back as the two men she is in a love triangle with.
However, in a recent interview, Shahi claimed that she was not happy with the second season of the drama and had not received the same levels of “support”.
“I mean, I’m never gonna work for Netflix again now after saying all this, but I can’t lie,” she said.
On Friday (7 April), a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that Sex/Life had been cancelled after two seasons, having come to a natural close after season two.

Netflix has canceled Sex/Life after two seasons. The news isn’t all that surprising as series star Sarah Shahi recently signed on to star in ABC’s legal drama Judgement.
Inspired by B.B. Easton’s 44 Chapters About 4 Men, Sex/Life starred Sarah Shahi as Billie Connelly who, “exhausted from taking care of her two kids and feeling nostalgic for the free-spirited life she lived in New York with her best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette) before marrying loving and reliable Cooper (Mike Vogel), starts journaling and fantasizing about her exploits with an ex (Adam Demos).” While the first season of Sex/Life had 232.70 million hours of viewing time over a nearly four-week period, the second season only had 126.8 million hours in a similar time frame. That’s a drop of about 45%, so you can understand why Netflix canceled Sex/Life.

Netflix‘s Sex/Life has been canceled after delivering its long-awaited second season starring Sarah Shahi, Adam Demos, Margaret Odette, and Mike Vogel. The series focused on a love triangle between Shahi’s Billie, her husband Cooper (Vogel), and her past, all while taking a provocative new look at female identity and desire. After debuting in June of 2021, viewers were eager for the show’s return which didn’t take place until the beginning of March 2023. It seems that the lengthy waiting period didn’t do the show any favors, as it likely contributed to its Season 2 performance. But while viewership is likely a factor in the show’s fate, Shahi recently spoke out about her Season 2 experience and how it differed from the supportive one she had during Season 1. (Credit: Sabrina Lantos/Netflix) Speaking on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast on Tuesday, April 4, Shahi said the production was a “challenge.

Netflix has canceled its drama series Sex/Life after two seasons.
The decision comes five weeks after the show’s second season (consisting of six episodes, down from eight in season one) debuted — and three weeks after star Sarah Shahi signed on to star in Judgement, a legal drama in contention for next season at ABC.
Season two brought an ending of sorts to the story as Shahi’s Billie reunited with her ex, Brad (Adam Demos), and got married on a beach. Showrunner Stacy Rukeyser, however, told The Hollywood Reporter that she didn’t view the last episode as the end of the series.
“The episode was never intended to be a series finale, that’s for sure,” Rukeyser told THR a week after season two premiered. “I know there are always more stories to tell with these characters in the Sex/Life universe, and I hope we get the chance to tell those stories.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Sex/Life Season 2.] The Sex/Life Season 2 finale tied all of the plots together in a shiny bow. [This story includes major spoilers for Sex/Life season two.]
Sex/Life‘s second season brings to life the concept of two roads diverged.
The Netflix hit ended its first season on a major cliffhanger that saw Billie (Sarah Shahi) run to Brad’s (Adam Demos) loft in Manhattan six months after she said she was going to strictly focus on her marriage. “Oh God, it’s not enough,” she says, as she leaves husband Cooper (Mike Vogel) at home in Connecticut with the kids.
When season two kicks off, Billie is in a new apartment of her own in the city and separated from Cooper. In flashbacks, viewers find out that, while Brad still clearly has feelings for Billie, he viewed her turning down his season one proposal as a sign to move on — and into bed with someone else.

As the first season of Netflix’s Sex/Life wrapped up, our heroine Billie (Sarah Shahi) found herself in a bit of a pickle. On the one hand, she had Cooper (Mike Vogel), her drop-dead gorgeous, chiseled husband, a great father to her two small children with a lucrative job that was helping save the world. But the sex? Meh. On the other hand, she had Brad (Adam Demos), her drop-dead gorgeous, chiseled past love, a mega-rich music producer unfortunately burdened with abandonment issues that made him a bit of a douchebag.

Something like 67 million households streamed season one of Netflix's steamy hit "Sex/Life" after it dropped last year - and apparently, a handful of them have children at star Sarah Shahi's kids' school.
"My kids' elementary school, I became notorious over there," Shahi jokes to Popsugar during a recent interview. "And I had to disguise myself for a bit because I became the poster child for unhappily married women. And so there was a lineup. I was like Dr. Ruth at 7-year-olds's birthday parties, just giving out love and relationship advice."
Shahi, who shares three kids with her ex Steve Howey - son William, 13, and twins Violet and Knox, 8 - is still "grateful," though, for every "beautiful" encounter she has with a fan who connected with Billie - even when they don't initially recognize her at first.

Sarah Shahi may have never played a character like Billie prior to starring in Netflix's "Sex/Life," but it turns out they have a lot in common. In the hit series, Shahi plays a suburban mom who's stuck in a complicated love triangle between her husband, Cooper (Mike Vogel), and ex-boyfriend Brad (Adam Demos). One of the most surprising hits of 2021 on Netflix is returning next month.
The official trailer for Sex/Life Season 2 is here, and it looks like Billie will have a new love interest in mind.
The trailer also seemingly confirms that it's all over between Billie and Cooper.
"I'm not [upset], I'm just done," Cooper says.
Things aren't much better with Brad, either.
"I came to you six months ago with a ring," he tells her, adding the following:
"You said no, and now it's too late."
As for the new man in Billie's life, Majid (played by Darius Homayoun), he looks like a lot of fun.
The first season featured plenty of steamy twists that got the fans talking -- and streaming.
Will the show be able to live up to its moniker again for the second time?
We'll need to tune in when the series returns, but if the trailer is any indication,...

Everyone is moving on in Sex/Life Season 2. February 2’s teaser showed Billie (Sarah Shahi) and Brad’s (Adam Demos) steamy reunion, but the new Sex/Life Season 2 trailer shows a very different scene. In the video above, Billie and Brad are far from together, as he reveals he’s with someone new following Billie’s rejection of his proposal last season. And Cooper (Mike Vogel) declares his and Billie’s marriage is all but over. With her husband and her lover scorned, Billie has no choice but to move on. She ends up diving into a new fling with Darius Homayoun‘s Majid (below). Sabrina Lantos/Netflix Sex/Life is the story of a love triangle between a woman, her husband, and her past that takes a provocative new look at female identity and desire. And it’s not just Billie who’s exploring the far reaches of her sexuality in Season 2 either.
