The prequel film we have all been waiting for is finally here and I am really happy to say that it is as brilliant and bombastic as the original film. Obviously, we are talking about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to George Miller‘s 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road. Directed by Miller from a screenplay by Nico Lathouris and Miller, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga follows the story of a young Furiosa as she is taken from Green Place of Many Mothers and tries to survive in the wasteland while trying to get back home but the war between great biker horde’s warlord Dementus and Immortan Joe makes it harder. “The Wheel of Time” series at Amazon has been renewed for Season 2 just as production is ending on Season 1, Variety has learned.

Based on the Robert Jordan novel series, “The Wheel of Time” was first ordered at Amazon back in 2018. Set in a world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.

“The belief Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television have shown in ‘The Wheel of Time’ has been incredible to see throughout the entire process of making this show,” said series showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins.

The “Wheel of Time” series at Amazon has added four more pieces to its cast.

Alvaro Morte has been cast as Logain, with Hammed Animashaun set to play Loial. In addition, Alexandre Willaume will play Thom Merrilin, and Johann Myers has been cast as Padan Fain. The quartet are all boarding the series in guest roles, joining previously announced main cast members Rosamund Pike, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoë Robins, Barney Harris and Madeleine Madden.

Josha Stradowski has been cast in the role of Rand al’Thor, with Marcus Rutherford set to play Perrin Aybara and Zoë Robins playing Nynaeve. In addition, Barney Harris will play Mat Cauthon and Madeleine Madden will play Egwene Al’Vere. They join previously announced cast member Rosamund Pike.

It’s happening; it’s finally happening! Sony Pictures Television announced that it is adapting the Wheel of Time book series. Sony, Red Eagle Entertainment and Radar Pictures will co-produce the series. Rafe Judkins will write and executive produce. Judkins’ credits include ABC’s Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, and NBC’s Chuck. Red Eagle’s Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will also serve as executive producers as well as Radar’s Ted Field and Mike Weber. Harriet McDougal, books series writer Robert Jordan’s widow, will serve as consulting producer.

Dear god, can’t someone give Michael Jai White a break? The star of the underrated Spawn, the fantastic blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite, and the man behind supervillain Bronze Tiger in season 2 of Arrow, has been toiling away in Dtv action movie purgatory for some time now. Chuck Russell is working on a new movie version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and it appears he's already chosen his Quasimodo.

Max Ryan is set to play the deformed bellringer after co-writing the screenplay for The Hunchback with Julio Ponce Palmieri (via THR).

A look at the IMDb page for the film indicates the hunchback has been renamed Pierre and Steven Berkoff is also linked to the production.

Filming is set to start on the movie in Serbia next year, with Russell producing alongside Mike Weber as executive producer and Eustace Montgomery Hicks as co-producer.

This would be the latest in a long line of adaptions of Victor Hugo's 1831 novel Notre Dame de Paris.

There's the singalong 1997 Disney version, the well known 1939 Charles Loughton adaptation and even a little known 90s TV movie starring Salma Hayek and Mandy Patinkin.

No release date has yet been set for The Hunchback.

Max Ryan ("Death Race," "Sex and the City 2") will star and Chuck Russell ("The Scorpion King") is set to direct "The Hunchback" for Quercus Enterprises, Radar Pictures and Loop Films.

Inspired by Victor Hugo's novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", specific plot details such as whether the film will keep the period setting and so on are being kept under wraps.

Ryan and Julio Ponce-Palmieri penned the script while Russell, Ted Fields, Aldo Lapietra and Jonah Loop will produce. The project aims to begin shooting next year in Serbia.

It doesn’t bode well for a film when it counts Jim Agnew and Sean Keller as its writers. After all the duo were responsible for penning Giallo, the film that made Dario Argento the laughing stock of Frightfest and sounded the death knell on the career of the once-master of the Italian horror genre. Then again it doesn’t bode well when a film starring Nicolas Cage makes its debut as a direct to DVD title either.

So what’s the spiel? Well:

After a life of crime in his younger years Paul Maguire (Cage), now lives a charmed life. Fully reformed from his old ways, he is now a successful businessman, with a nice house, a lovely wife (Nichols) and a wonderful daughter, who he dotes on.

Where would the horror genre be without its libidinal icons? Its scream queens and handsome hunks? Along with gore and jump scares, sex has fueled the horror genre for generations. Just as characters from the vampire and werewolf mythos can "glamour" others--i.e., put a spell on others--so is the glamorous essential to the cinematic spell cast by these denizens of the dark, and nothing spells glamour like sex appeal. Is it any wonder that young breakout actors frequently find their first feature opportunities in independent horror films?

In the first of a series of research interviews, I'll be taking a look at the hunks of horror, starting off with one of the leaders of the pack, so to speak: Chris Divecchio. Divecchio's recent turn as Dan, the werewolf drifter in Dana Mennie's Dark Moon Rising (aka Wolf Moon, 2009) skillfully interprets the sensual tension between strength and vulnerability key to such characters.

Last Thursday night, at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, Horroryearbook's Gary G. and Andrew were On The Scene at the film's premiere. Written and directed by Dana Mennie, Wolf Moon is the tale of a small southwestern town terrorized by a rash of werewolf murders. It stars an impressive cast of genre veteran's such as Maria Conchita Alonso, Chris Mulkey, Sid Haig, Lin Shaye, and Billy Drago; alongside up and comers Max Ryan, Ginny Weirick and Chris Divecchio. Horroryearbook was excited about possibly meeting some of our genre heroes, like Mulkey, Shaye and Haig in person.

From the plethora of home video releases we got last week, June 22nd sees a much smaller batch -- only seven titles in all -- and undoubtedly the pick of the week is Shout! Factory's stellar re-packaging of Death Race 2000.

As for the rest of the offerings, unfortunately I can't be so positive. The Sex and the City 2 gang was out in full force last night in NYC for the first premiere of their film before Thursday's London event. As we mentioned several days ago, Lionsgate will be releasing Wolf Moon (formerly known as Dark Moon Rising) on DVD this June 22nd, and we've got a look at its box art as well as some info on the disc's extras.

According to DVD Active the only special feature will be a commentary with writer/director Dana Mennie and star Max Ryan. Along with Ryan his toothy little tale stars quite the genre pedigree with Sid Haig, Maria Conchita Alonso, Chris Mulkey, Billy Drago, and more.

The continuing story of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha as they struggle to manage their love lives, friendships and careers in New York City. The film stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Catrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler and Jason Lewis. Also in the mix are Maria Cantone, Willie Garson, Max Ryan, Liza Minnelli, Alice Eve, Penelope Cruz, David Alan Basche and Miley Cyrus among others.

One flick we've been talking about for a while now is Dana Mennie's werewolf driven love story Dark Moon Rising. Don't let the love story part fool ya, though; the movie features Sid Haig fighting werewolves! That premise alone is enough for me to get my ass into a seat to watch it.

Even thought it's set for a May 27 release date, Sex and the City 2 have managed to stay top-secret, with just a teaser trailer and only the vaguest plot details to go on. Now, for some reason, the secrecy has been broken by the British tabloid http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1257362/Sex-And-The-City-2-Sneak-peek-Carrie--Cos-Moroccan-adventure-upcoming-sequel.html>The Daily Mail, which got its hands on a handful of promo images and way more plot detail than we've gotten so far. Well, some plot detail at least-- there's no confirmation that Carrie and Big's marriage will run into trouble or that Carrie will get pregnant, and there's barely even speculation on why the four women wind up in Morocco for what looks like a solid chunk of the film. But we do know that Samantha runs into ex-boyfriend Smith Jerrod again, while also finding a new paramour in English actor Max Ryan.

Jason Lewis smiled for photographers yesterday as he hopped into his car in NYC. He's in the Big Apple to promote Charisma bed linens, which he wholeheartedly endorsed by revealing that he sleeps between them naked. Mental image aside, seeing hot Jason has us looking forward to Sex and the City 2's upcoming release. Actor Max Ryan, who plays Samantha Jones' love interest in "Sex and The City 2," is stable after a head-on collision while riding his motorcycle in Los Angeles on Monday, a rep for the actor confirmed to AccessHollywood.com.

According to rep Erik Kritzer, a car turned in front of Max and they ran into each, leaving Max trapped under the car.

"Max is stabilized," his rep told Access on Wednesday. "According to attending physicians, he has broken five ribs and cracked his collarbone. Max wants to thank the emergency services for responding so quickly."
