Find Me Falling tells a story we’ve seen many times before. Harry Connick Jr. stars as John Allman, a washed-up rocker who moves to Cyprus seeking solitude after his music career fizzles. But just like in countless romantic comedies, John can’t escape connecting with others.

He’s introduced to the scenic island and its people through a chance meeting with an old flame, Dr. Sia, played by Agni Scott. Their rekindled romance serves as the predictable plot engine, navigating well-worn arcs of will-they-or-won’t-they that are easy to map from the start.

While the Mediterranean backdrops are undeniably gorgeous, the familiarity of John’s journey makes it difficult to fall deeply invested in his tale of love and self-discovery on all too familiar shores.

The Exchange has picked up world sales rights to “The Islander,” starring Harry Connick Jr. Variety can share an exclusive first look of the romantic feature.

The Exchange will be introducing the title to buyers at AFM, which kicks off Oct. and runs through Nov. 5.

Stelana Kliris wrote directed her original screenplay and produced under her Cyprus-based Meraki Films banner. “The Islander” is produced by Jupiter Peak Prods., Steven Shapiro and Keith Arnold, with the support from the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture, and the Cyprus Film Commission’s incentives program. It stars along with Connick Jr., Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney and Tony Demetriou. Film is in post-production.

The Exchange has acquired the world sales rights for romantic comedy “The Islander,” starring Grammy- and Emmy Award-winning musician and actor Harry Connick Jr. The film features two original songs by Connick. The Exchange will introduce the title to buyers at next week’s American Film Market.

“The Islander” is about a down-on-his-luck rockstar, who moves to a remote cliffside house, sight unseen, on an island, only to discover his new home has an unfortunate notoriety. Through a series of charming mishaps, it turns out maybe love can be found right where he left it.

The film is written, directed and produced by Stelana Kliris under her Cyprus-based Meraki Films banner. It is also produced by Jupiter Peak Productions, Steven Shapiro, and Keith Arnold, with the support of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture, and the Cyprus Film Commission’s incentives scheme.

Alongside Connick, it stars Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney and Tony Demetriou.

The Road Dance centers on Kirsty MacLeod (Corfield) who dreams of a better life away from the isolation that suffocates her in a small village on an island in the Outer Scottish Hebrides. Suppressing these aspirations, she sees her lover Murdo (Will Fletcher) conscripted for service in the First World War, soon to set off and fight alongside the other young men from the village. The Scottish adaptation of John McKay’s 2002 novel premiered at the 2021 Edinburgh International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Film, followed by the Jury Prize for Best Feature at the Manchester International Film Festival.

At one point, Saw VI director Kevin Greutert was on board to direct a slasher movie called All My Friends Are Dead… but then Greutert got busy working on the upcoming sequel Saw X and ended up handing the helm over to Marcus Dunstan – the director of The Collector and co-writer of Saw VI. All My Friends Are Dead is now filming in Vancouver with Dunstan at the helm, and the first image from the film has been unveiled. The project from Cinedigm, Roundtable Entertainment and Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment is shooting in Vancouver, Canada, with an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Ens, Ali Fumiko Whitney, Justin Derickson, Julian Haig, Cardi Wong, Jack Doupe-Smith and Michaella Russell.

With a screenplay by Josh Sims and Jessica Sarah Flaum, All My Friends Are Dead follows college friends at a big music festival where a weekend of partying quickly becomes a nightmare as the group is murdered one by one. When the friends realize each horrific death corresponds to one of the seven deadly sins, it’s only a matter of time before everyone’s number is up.

Cinedigm already picked up the North American rights to the film financed by Banc of California, Budding Equity and others.

This feature debut from American director Richie Adams is firmly in the tradition of the likes of Catherine Cookson and Barbara Taylor-Bradford, although the novel source material here was written by a man, John Mackay, which unfortunately shows in its inability to truly get under the skin of its heroine. It has the well-made but familiar feel of a Sunday evening drama on ITV or the Beeb - a slot that it could well find itself occupying at some time in the future, especially after taking home the Audience Award after its Eiff world premiere.
