Office equipment turns deadly after a bomb-maker targets a reformed hacker at work. Can Mel Gibson and a D-list cast save him from server-room peril?
Kevin Dillon heads a mostly D-, E- and F-list cast in this schlocky but not entirely unwatchable thriller; he plays Orlando Friar, a one-time hacker who’s gone straight and works for a computer helpline. One sunny day in southern California, Orlando makes excuses as to why he can’t stay at home and attend the birthday party of his teenage daughter Zoey (Anna Harr), citing work demands. His wife Kim (Lydia Hull) is so fed up with his perpetual absence, she hands him divorce papers. But off to work he goes nevertheless, where he is soon punished for his lack of paternal commitment when he discovers that an unseen bomb-maker, at first just a voice on the phone, has set a trap for him at work.

That Bruce Willis grimace. It’s almost as much a trademark as his smirk. When the actor’s mouth tightens and his eyes squint in “Survive the Night,” you’d like to think it’s because his character is feeling the pain. Emotionally, Frank’s estranged from his son. After a run-in with the movie’s two baddies, the retired sheriff will be hurting physically, too.
Not long into the action, a grimace becomes the only appropriate response to this try-hard flick, directed by Matt Eskandari and written by Doug Wolfe, about what happens when two brothers on the lam violently enlist the surgical services of Frank’s son. Chad Michael Murray plays Rich, who’s in the process of rebuilding his life after a malpractice suit ended his burgeoning medical career. "Used to be the big dog in town... Don't try anything." Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for the home invasion action thriller Survive the Night, which looks pretty much as generic and as forgettable as they come. How do they keep getting made? Does anyone watch? Bruce Willis drives the action in this gripping home-invasion thriller. A disgraced doctor and his family are held hostage at their home by criminals on the run, when a robbery-gone-awry requires them to seek immediate medical attention. In addition to Willis, the cast includes Chad Michael Murray, Lydia Hull, Tyler Jon Olson, Shea Buckner, and Jessica Abrams. It looks so unoriginal and so redundant, just sad that Bruce Willis keeps making movies like this. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Matt Eskandari's Survive the Night, direct from YouTube: After his brother Mathias (Tyler Jon Olson) is mortally wounded in a robbery gone bad,...

"Every minute gets him closer to the truth." Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for a crime thriller film titled 10 Minutes Gone, the latest by mediocre action filmmaker Brian A. Miller (he also made Backtrace with Stallone last year). 10 Minutes Gone is a crime thriller that centers on a man whose memory has been lost due to a bank heist gone wrong. Frank must piece together the missing 10 minutes from his memory in order to determine who sabotaged him, confronting his team members one-by-one before the boss takes him out. Michael Chiklis stars as Frank, with Bruce Willis, Meadow Williams, Kyle Schmid, Texas Battle, Lydia Hull, Swen Temmel, John D. Hickman, Sergio Rizzuto, Geoff Reeves, and Tyler Jon Olson. This looks as bland and forgettable as everything Brian A. Miller makes, despite the two leading actors. And the awkward "trailer voice" in this is cringe-worthy. "So much for honor among thieves,...

John Gotti Jr. thinks the story of his father’s life should at least be playing on a few more screens on the Gambino family’s home turf. The son of the notorious mobster is distressed that “Gotti” is only playing a few theaters in Brooklyn.
“It’s not being shown in areas where the story happened and that’s a shame,” he said. “I don’t get it.”
Gotti Jr. has been working on getting the film off the ground for nearly a decade, and the biopic starring John Travolta finally arrives at 503 theaters this weekend. But the low-budget drama could get whacked at the box office.
The long-gestating project, which was directed by “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly, is now saddled with a 0% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on six reviews from the Cannes Film Festival, where it premiered on May 15 and Travolta made headlines boogieing onstage with 50 Cent at the after-party.

Fans rejoice. Take a deep breath and exhale. The sequel we’ve all been waiting for is only a few months away. I know you know we’re talking Escape Plan 2: Hades. Sylvester Stallone returns for the sequel, which finds his character Ray Breslin breaking In to a prison rather than breaking Out. Sly will be joined by franchise newcomer Dave Bautista. Bautista’s muscles fill in for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will not be returning.
In all seriousness, the reason I like movies like this is because it doesn’t pretend to be anything its not. Either you like these silly action movies or you don’t. While I don’t necessarily always feel like watching something like this, occasionally it’s great. Like any junk food it must be consumed in moderation.

"This is bigger than any one of us." Up for another unwanted sequel to an action movie most people didn't see? Here you go. Lionsgate Premiere has debuted the first official trailer for Escape Plan 2: Hades, the direct-to-vod/DVD sequel to the action-heist-prison break movie Escape Plan from a few years ago (which I never even saw). Surprisingly, they somehow convinced Sylvester Stallone to return for this as Ray Breslin, who escape from an inescapable prison in the first movie (what an original plot). This sequel sees him in another inescapable techno-prison, surprise surprise, that is called "Hades". The film's ensemble cast features Dave Bautista, Jaime King, Wes Chatham, 50 Cent, Jesse Metcalfe, Baylee Curran, Lydia Hull, Ashley Cusato, and Vincent Young. This looks as bad (if not even worse) as it sounds, but it might be the kind of bargain bin entertainment that a few of you might need right now.

"You'll need the support of all five boroughs." Vertical Ent. has debuted a second official trailer for crime thriller Gotti, spanning three decades telling the story of legendary crime boss John Gotti Sr., as played by John Travolta. The story focuses on Gotti's rise to power in New York, as well as his wife Victoria Gotti, played by Kelly Preston, along with his son John Gotti Jr., played by Spencer Lofranco. This film was slated as a last minute premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, which seems like an odd pick. It was originally set to open last December, but has been held until this June. The full cast includes Stacy Keach, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Megan Leonard, Lydia Hull, William DeMeo, Tyler Jon Olson, Leo Rossi, and Ella Bleu Travolta. Vertical Entertainment has come aboard for U.S. theatrical distribution rights to Gotti, the pic about the famed mob boss that stars John Travolta and is directed by Kevin Connolly. The distributor will now team with Sunrider Productions to give the film a wide release June 15.
That’s the date Connolly pegged last month after its original December release date was scrapped, and the filmmakers exercised a buy-back clause with Lionsgate Premiere, which was giving the film a day-and-date VOD/theatrical release. The plan was to secure a new distributor that would do a wide release.
Sunrider’s Edward Walson who had purchased the film rights at the time, negotiated the new deal with Vertical along with Phillip Glasser.
“I have always been fascinated by the John Gotti story,” Walson said. “When I first saw the film, I knew it had a tremendous amount of potential, especially due to the terrific performance by John Travolta.

The pitch for this makes it seem like it wants to be the next Godfather, but the footage does not live up to that comparison.
