RuPaul’s Dragcon returns to the Los Angeles Convention, July 19-20, for two days of events ranging from Meet and Greets, photo ops, cast reunions, and booth signings.

RuPaul opened the fan-favorite event with Michele Visage and drag stars at the ceremonious pink ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday morning and followed with a DJ set.

The Queens Walk kicked off the party, the drag world’s equivalent of the Met Gala, as renowned queens from “Drag Race” including Nymphia Wind, Jimbo, Aquaria, Trinity the Tuck, Alaska, Blu Hydrangea, Ra’Jah O’Hara, Marina Summers, Gotmik and more, peacocked their best attires on the main stage.

Michelle Visage will host live tapings from the event including “Bring Back My Girls,” hosted by Ts Madison, and “Hey Qween!”, “Live From The Pink Carpet,” and the newly announced “Touch Ups” with Raven, with extra special guest, Jimbo. All tapings will air exclusively on Wow Presents Plus later this year.

RuPaul’s DragCon LA 2024 has officially begun! Earlier today, the cowboy hat-wearing RuPaul Charles opened the festivities at the Los Angeles Convention Center with the ceremonial cutting of the pink ribbon. “Fabulous! Have a good time. I love you,” the Queen of Drag told his adoring crowd while still holding the enormous pink scissors. RuPaul’s co-producer and co-judge Michelle Visage stood beside him, and they were flanked by dozens of drag queens from the American version of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” plus many other worldwide installments. Once again, the convention’s festivities are presented by World of Wonder Productions and its co-founders, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. This year’s theme is the “hottest ever” … and we’re assuming that refers to the sizzling talent that’ll be on-hand rather than the California weather.

The world’s largest celebration of drag culture is just days away, so get ready to sashay your way to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The 2024 edition of RuPaul’s DragCon LA will take place over two days: Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. Once again, it’s presented by World of Wonder Productions and its co-founders, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. This year’s theme is the “hottest ever” … and we’re assuming that refers to the sizzling talent that’ll be on-hand rather than the California weather.

Attendees of RuPaul’s DragCon LA will be able to experience signings, meet and greets, photo opps, mainstage performances, a DJ set with RuPaul Charles (Friday only), 300 unique vendors for shopping and merchandise, and more. Judges Michelle Visage and Ts Madison will also appear, as well as “pit crew” model Bruno Alcantara and celebs like Daniel Franzese and Yamil “Yam Yam” Arocho.

Canada's Drag Race: Canada Vs. The World season 2 premieres on July 19, featuring 9 divas from various Drag Race franchises competing for the title. Lisa Rinna, Traci Melchor, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Brad Goreski will be judges on the show, with celebrities like Charlotte Cardin, Alessia Cara, and Samantha Bee participating in challenges. Season 2 includes Canada's Drag Race alums, UK fan-favorites, French contestants, and American Drag Race alumni, promising an exciting competition.

Canada's Drag Race: Canada Vs. The World season 2 is right around the corner, with viewers ready to see how much heat this season will bring to the Great White North. Ra'Jah O'Hara won Canada's Drag Race: Canada Vs. The World season 1 with Silky Nutmeg Ganache finishing in the runners-up position. Ra'Jah earned the Queen of The Mother-Pucking World title and took home a $100,000 cash prize. Countries featured in the first season included the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Canada.

Canada's Drag Race: Canada Vs. The World season 2 features returning judges and international queens competing for the title. Nine global divas, including Cheryl Hole, Eureka O'Hara, and Alexis Mateo, join the competition. The series will air on July 19 on Wow Presents Plus.

Canada's Drag Race: Canada Vs. The World season 2 cast is full of surprises, with three returning resident judges and a guest arbiter. The RuPaul Drag Race franchise has expanded and taken the world by storm, with some of the favorite queens returning to screens for another shot at the crown. The series was renewed for a second season in July 2023 after a successful end to Canada's Drag Race: Canada Vs. The World season 1.

The RuPaul and World of Wonder Productions event will be hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center between July 19-20.

RuPaul’s DragCon is the largest celebration of drag culture in the world, that brings “all the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to tens of thousands of attendees, with hundreds of the world’s top drag queens from across the globe mixing and mingling with fans of all backgrounds.”

DragCon LA 2024 promises signings and meet and greets with your favorite Queens, “fierce mainstage performances throughout the weekend, exclusive programming, wig-snatching merch, immersive activations from RuPaul’s Drag Race and Wow Presents Plus shows, and more.”

For years, the Drag Race fan base has been begging for an international version of the show which would see queens from all over the world compete against one another to be crowned queen of the universe. In fact, all the way back in 2021 I wrote a fantasy cast for such a show, with many of the queens I wanted to appear actually making an appearance! Fans (myself included) were eagerly anticipating an international season to see how the different drag styles would clash and hopefully would provide opportunities for insightful cultural exchanges. However, I don’t think there has been been a season of drag race that has caused so much outrage and controversy than the first-ever season of Drag Race UK vs The World. Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs. The World slayed audience expectations in its series premiere on Friday, November 18. The cutthroat competition features a cast list of epic proportions, as queens from the US, the UK, and "Down Under" (Australia) take on the defending queens of Canada. A global battle royale, the show's winner rakes in 100,000, as well as a dazzling crown and scepter courtesy of Amped Accessories.

On the program's first edition (Drag Race UK vs. The World), the Brits take control of the crown, as Blu Hydrangea is sworn in as the first-ever, "Queen of the Mothertucking World." Canada’s Drag Race teased a massive guest for its latest season: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau! This isn’t the first time RuPaul’s fantastic competition series has gotten political, with figures like Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appearing on the original series, but Trudeau has the distinction of being the first world leader on the show, which is certainly impressive.

This new season will be taking on the new “Vs. The World,” format first introduced in Drag Race U.K. which is an “all stars” system that combines queens from all over the international franchises of the show.

Queens from U.S. Drag Race Ra’Jah O’Hara and Silky Nutmeg Ganache are returning, while Canada alums Icesis Couture, Kendall Gender, Rita Baga and Stephanie Prince are also getting a second chance.

Unfortunately, it looks like Trudeau was too busy to stay to guest judge as he just makes a brief appearance in the Queens’ workroom.
