Aleksandrs Oravs was born in Riga, Latvia. He developed an early interest in acting and pursued his passion at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute in Moscow, graduating with a BA in Acting for Drama Theatre and Cinema, class of Yuri Pogrebnichko. During his studies, Aleksandrs refined his craft in techniques such as Stanislavsky, Meyerhold's Biomechanics, and Chekhov's acting methods, which have defined his approach to performance.
His professional career began at the Theatre Okolo (Near Stanislavsky's House) in Moscow under esteemed guidance of Yuri Pogrebnichko, where he performed leading roles in over 20 productions, including The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov, and Alice by Lewis Carroll. Many of these plays toured internationally, earning critical acclaim in France, Switzerland, and Israel. In 2017, his role in Magadan/Cabaret with Theatre Okolo won the prestigious Golden Mask National Theatre Award for Best Small-Scale Production. Simultaneously, he developed his career in screen acting with notable roles in films and TV series.
In addition to his acting career, Aleksandrs explores his artistic range as a musician with a debut acoustic album influenced by Britpop and alternative music.
