A 2011 action-thriller classic starring Jason Statham is coming to Netflix in October. Directed by Simon West and written by Richard Wenk and Lewis John Carlino, the film serves as a remake of a 1972 movie of the same name starring Charles Bronson.
Statham stars in the film as hitman Arthur Bishop, following the dangerous individual as he takes on an unpredictable new apprentice named Steve (Ben Foster). Also starring the late Donald Sutherland, the movie follows Arthur and Steve as they embark on a series of missions and soon find themselves in trouble after a job doesn't go to plan. Clocking in at a brisk 93 minutes, The Mechanic's arrival on Netflix on October 1 (per Collider) makes it a must-watch for those looking for more classic Statham action.

Mercedes Masöhn, a onetime member of Chuck‘s deadly-sexy C.A.T. Squad, will continue to exact justice — on the Fox midseason series The Finder, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Also joining the cast of the Bones offshoot is 16-year-old newcomer Maddie Hasson.
Masöhn has landed the series regular role of Isabel Zambada, a Deputy U.S. Marshal who enjoys a “vigorous friends with benefits” relationship with “Finder” Walter Sherman (played October Road‘s Geoff Stults). The romantic wrinkle: Forever wooed by the FBI and with her eye on one day becoming the first female Hispanic Attorney General of the United States,...

The Mechanic (Blu-Ray)Sony Home Entertainment2011/Rated R/95 minsList Price: $35.98 -- Now AvailableYou don't go to Jason Statham movies looking for substance. Style almost always wins out, although the actor's last few films have become more than a tad generic lately, following the same old formula: Statham gets in over his head with some bad guys who feel they can outsmart him and he ends up turning the tables and kicking more then just a few asses. The Mechanic is a bit different, with the British native attempting to give a bit of a dramatic performance as an assassin feeling the guilt of allowing the organization he works for to “retire” his longtime friend and mentor. Naturally Statham fails, because let's face it, he's not really much of an actor; playing basically the same character over and over again: himself. Still, for a remake of a one of the many...

This is the Pure Movies review for The Mechanic, directed by Simon West and starring Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Tony Goldwyn, Donald Sutherland, Jeff Chase, Mini Anden, James Logan and Eddie J. Fernandez. This may well be a remake of the classic 1972 Michael Winner film that had the rather grander Us title of Killer of Killers, and starred mean machine Charles Bronson, but when The Mechanic has Jason Statham in the lead, it’s another Transporter film, whichever way you (cynically) look at it. Good news for Statham fans, and fans of shoot/blow-em-up kung-fu-lery because it has all those exciting and well-staged elements done in an erratic and on-the-clock fashion, leaving out important plot-developments along the way, as though they’re irrelevant because the Statham stunt choreography and physique will distract any nitpickers.

No sooner do we get tired of thumbing through the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue than Maxim gets temperatures rising with their annual Hot 100 issue. Coming to newsstands next week, we learn that model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whitely has been crowed the top hot babe. She displaces Megan Fox, who tumbles to #17, in this summer’s not-eagerly-awaited Transformers: Dark of the Moon and has become the new It girl (at least this month). Huntingon-Whiteley tells Maxim that being named number one “is a huge honor. It’s a great title to have for a year and you can have some fun with it, I think.”
The 100 is listed below and since hotness is in the eye of the beholder, we will all have our quibbles with the order, inclusion or absence of our personal favorites. Me, I have issues with many in the top 10 alone.

He has ink on his hand and the woman was killed with a pen. He's a pornographer. Horatio: "Well then roll credits, that's a wrap." Walter (Omar Miller) wonders what kind of party this was. Calleigh (Emily Procter) checks out the murder weapon. Walter finds a bug, someone listened in to the murder. Anna tells Natalia (Eva Larue) the Vic was in Tony's films. Natalia recalls Anna from before (episode ??) Anna doesn't see Jesse as a friend and says he stalked her all the way from La because of Tony. But that was for her own good.

Ryan (Jonathan Togo) moonlights as a security guard and looks at the tank containing jellyfish. When asked by the other security man if he's doing his job, Ryan remarks, "...feel at ten grand a plate there aren't many murderers" at the charity event. The security man spots a 'bad man' because of his moves, "like he's stalking prey." Referring to Jesse (Eddie Cibrian). So Jesse's character could have gone either way at this point in the season, he could either have been all bad or all good and no shades of grey in between. Ryan asks for ID from Jesse. Ryan says Jesse, "looks gorgeous in your tux." Hey, Ryan didn't know you felt that way, ha. Jesse watches a woman and then denies he knows her, but Ryan insists she knows Jesse. A man hangs over the balcony above the tank and falls into the jellyfish, which pounce and kill him.

That's two standalone episodes of "Chuck" in a row now, and they've made for a nice palate cleanser before the bigger arcs pick back up next week.
Like last week's "Chuck vs. the Seduction Impossible," "Chuck vs. the C.A.T. Squad" was a lot of fun, as we met the former members of Sarah's all-female, all-gorgeous spy team. But while the big spy stuff has been on hold, both episodes have given us some great insight into Sarah's struggles to step into the real world and her problems dealing with the past.
Plus, high comedy (and also some real sweetness) from Morgan, which is pretty much never a bad thing.
Chuck vs. Sarah's past
Chuck is a fix-it kind of guy. He sees Sarah struggling with the idea that she's left family and friends behind for her career, and he wants to help bring that part of her life back.

Simon West’s remake of Michael Winner’s 1972 film is by no means a worn-out hand-me-down and The Mechanic may easily be able to boast the title of ‘West’s best’ since Con Air. The opening sequence follows protagonist Arthur Bishop (the inside-out Bond/action star Jason Statham) on a silent operation where we get our first taste of just how a professional assassin – aka a mechanic – operates. The story is simple yet effective. Arthur is a proficient contract-killer with a gentleman’s taste for fine music, classic cars and brief sexual encounters with preternaturally attractive women. His employers are the greedy corporate fat-cat type and his sole meaningful relationship is with an elderly, wheelchair-bound Donald Sutherland who plays his mentor, contact-man and friend Harry McKenna. When the fat cats call for Harry’s head on a platter an unwilling Arthur complies leaving our hero up to his neck in...

This is timely.
On the heels of ABC announcing plans for a Charlie's Angels remake this fall, Chuck producer Chris Fedak says his show is about to "pay homage" to this classic series.
On February 14, look for Mini Anden to reprise her role as Sarah’s former spy pal, Carina Miller. She won't arrive on the scene alone, either, as Fedak tells Michael Ausiello viewers can expect "a wild bunch" when Mercedes Masöhn and Mircea Monroe also guest star and form "The Cat Squad."
Elsewhere: Isaiah Mustafa and Stacy Keibler will return later this season as Greta, as Fedak promises the series “will explain what the whole Greta thing is about.”
Thank goodness.

Of all her attempts to go as a disguise, Sarah could be in her sexiest state in the next episode of "Chuck". Casey, Chuck and Sarah are sent to Morocco to rescue Roan Montgomery, and the female agent should dress up as a belly dancer. Meanwhile, Morgan plans to meet Alex's mother and Mary spends some time with her family.

Chicago – It wouldn’t be a Jason Statham film if in it he was just fixing cars. In “The Mechanic,” his profession is fixing people. And by fixing, like “The Transporter” he’s again cracking skulls.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
But if you’re going to ask audiences to buy into a remake of the 1972 film by the same name with Charles Bronson originating Jason Statham’s role as Arthur Bishop, a film needs to make it less obvious that it’s just modernizing a 1970s flick for the purposes of making new money on a preexisting script.
While “The Mechanic” takes a page from all other hitman movies and employs every trick in the contract killer book we’ve already seen, the one redeeming difference is Statham’s inner dialogue and his cool, calculated demeanor. Sure, this Jason Statham is again a killer with no back story, but this time he’s also a master of restraint,...

A red band trailer for Jason Statham's new movie The Mechanic premiered yesterday on IGN. By law, of course, every Statham movie must feature at least one scene where he takes off his shirt. This new trailer proves that the required scene is indeed in the film.
A remake of the Charles Bronson picture, The Mechanic is about an elder hitman (Statham) who takes a young apprentice (Ben Foster) under his wing to teach him his deadly trade. Donald Sutherland, Tomy Goldwyn, Christa Campbell and Mini Anden also make up the cast, and the movie was directed by Simon West. Back in the 90s, West brought us such action pictures as the first Tomb Raider, The General's Daughter and the agonizing Con Air, so this movie could be part of West's rehabilitation program.
The Mechanic is slated for release at the end of the month, January 28 to be exact.

Hey gang! Check out this awesome new red band trailer for Jason Statham's new film The Mechanic! The movie was directed by Simon West, and also stars Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland, Tony Goldwyn, Jeff Chase and Mini Anden.
The Mechanic looks like it going to be a ridiculously badass action film! I love this new red band trailer, it shows off a lot of insane fun moments of the movie, hopefully it's not all of the the good parts. It was enough to get me even more excited to see this movie though. It looks like Statham at the top of his game.
Here's the Official Synopsis:
Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a 'mechanic' - an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It's a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But...

Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak didn’t seem too surprised that the show’s fans banded together to conquer the Spoiler Room Special Edition Poll with the fervor of 100 hungry mall-goers descending on a pile of $5 footlongs. He’s come to know the breadth of their power well. But he was still very honored.
Thus, shortly before Santa brought me an abundance of new shoes and a ton of TV on DVD, Fedak hopped on the phone to tackle some of the inquiries you sent in. Chuck fans, I present the fruits of your voting and question-asking labors.

Last month we showed you the one-sheet (here) and trailer (here) for The Mechanic, and now we’ve got 5 new stills from the film for you. The film is a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film, starring Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland and Mini Anden.
Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a ‘mechanic’ – an elite assassin with a strict code and unique talent for cleanly eliminating targets. It’s a job that requires professional perfection and total detachment, and Bishop is the best in the business. But when his mentor and close friend Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed – he wants those responsible dead. His mission grows complicated when Harry’s son Steve (Ben Foster) approaches him with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop’s trade. Bishop has always acted alone but he can’t turn his back on Harry’s son.

Someone has to fix the problems. CBS Films has unveiled a teaser poster on Moviefone for their upcoming gritty action flick The Mechanic, a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film, starring badass actor Jason Statham as well as Ben Foster (as his new apprentice), Donald Sutherland and Mini Anden. We featured a promo trailer back in March that has since been pulled, but I expect we'll see a real trailer soon as this is due in theaters in January. This kind of gun-filled poster design isn't really unique to see anymore, but it is better than slapping some floating heads on a boring background. We'll let you know when the trailer drops! An action-thriller centered on an assassin (Jason Statham) and a young man who becomes an apprentice. The Mechanic was directed by British filmmaker Simon West, of memorable blockbusters like Con Air, The General's Daughter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,...

This review may contain spoilers. At the end of the first episode of the season -- you know, the one that aired immediately prior to the second episode -- Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) declared to Chuck (Zachary Levi) that since they are both spies now they cannot have feelings for each other. For those that wanted to see Chuck and Sarah together, the effects of emotions on their relationship and more importantly on Chuck and the Intersect are most important for .Chuck Versus The Three Words.. .Spies don.t fall in love,. is the motto of Carina (Mini Anden) who is appalled to find out that Sarah has fallen in love with Chuck. To be a spy, she says several times in the episode that emotions cannot be a part of it, which connects to the fact that at the end of Season 2, the Intersect v2.0 ...

Chuck may know Kung Fu now, but Operation Bartowski was back in full effect on the second episode of Chuck's premiere last night. With most of the setup already done in the first hour, "Chuck vs. the Three Words" was our first taste of how Intersect 2.0 will be.
The episode was a nice throwback to season one with the return of Carina (Mini Anden), who was last seen in episode four, "Chuck Versus the Wookie." The episode also saw Vinne Jones guest starring as her tough, but sensitive fiancee Karl.
Our only issue with the episode was Chuck's annoying decision to keep insisting to talk about his feelings to Sarah in the middle of their mission. While we're okay with much of the show reverting to its formula of previous seasons and making Chuck a bumbling idiot, we'd think he would have grown past this.
That one gripe aside,...

Chicago – After a second season that saw already-low ratings decline, NBC took a chance by bringing “Chuck” back for a third, shortened season. As the network has struggled this year due to a number of horrible decisions (most of them related to Jay Leno), most of its lineup has been hit. Let’s hope “Chuck” bucks the trend because this cult hit has arguably never been better.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
The second of “Chuck,” recently released on DVD (which we’ll get into in more detail later), felt a bit like a show spinning its wheels. The series failed to pick up any new fans and lost a few, although I imagine a number of “Chuck” fans are watching in that space that doesn’t get reflected in ratings - On Demand, online, etc. No matter the reason for the ratings slide, “Chuck” needs to grab fans quickly with the third...
