- While working with Grover Cleveland High School in Los Angeles, Scott mentored students at the Grover Cleveland Media Academy. The Academy named their media award, "The Scotty", in his honor.
- Obtained his Masters of Fine Art at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago. Noted alumni include Joan Allen, Dan Castellaneta, singer Jimmy Chamberlin, Steve Harris and producer Robert Zemeckis.
- A graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago. Other noted graduates include Michael Gross and retired CNN news anchor, Bernard Shaw.
- Scott co-starred opposite Michael Learned and Chicago native, Arlene Golonka, in the premiere American production of the German farce, "You Shall Give Me Grandsons".
- As a child Scott performed at the famed Lyric Opera House of Chicago. He sang with the acclaimed folk music group, the Limelighters and was a player in a production of the opera, Aida, with famed mezzo-soprano, Grace Bumbry. Miss Bumbry and young Scott went on to became friends.
