J.J. Perry is back in the director's chair with the romantic action comedy The Killer's Game. Perry began his career working on the stunt side of the industry, having worked on everything from the original Mortal Kombat movies in the '90s to the Wesley Snipes-led Blade and Three Kings before working his way up to being a stunt coordinator and second unit director on such hits as Tom Hardy's Warrior to The Fate of the Furious and John Wick: Chapter 2. Perry recently took a major step forward with his directorial debut in the Jamie Foxx-led Day Shift, which garnered mixed-to-positive reviews.

The Killer's Game's VOD release date has now been confirmed. Directed by J.J. Perry, The Killer's Game stars Dave Bautista as Joe, a hitman who puts a contract out on himself after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. When the assassins he hires also target his girlfriend, Maize (Sofia Boutella), however, Joe returns to doing what he does best. The film, which also stars Ben Kingsley, Terry Crews, Pom Klementieff, and Scott Adkins, hit theaters in mid-September, failing to make a splash at the box office.

Lionsgate now reveals that The Killer's Game will arrive on VOD on Friday, October 4, 2024. The film will be available to buy for the standard $24.99 and rent (for 48 hours) at $19.99 on most major VOD platforms, including Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home. It's not yet clear whether the digital version of the film will come with any special features.

Recently we sat down with Shaina West, who has appeared in Black Widow and The Woman King to talk about all things Jade. She leads the film alongside quite a cast, which includes Katherine McNamara, Mickey Rourke, and Mark Dacascos.

Jade begins with an animated sequence telling us that Jade and her brother Brandon came to live in Albuquerque, New Mexico after their parents were murdered in London. Why or by whom they were killed isn’t explained. Nor is exactly how they ended up in a street gang, or how that led to Jade accidentally killing her brother, made clear. But whatever the reason, she’s sworn never to use a gun again.

Once the film turn to live action, we see Jade dropping in to see Layla who is not happy to see her. That might be because the baby she’s carrying will never know its father, thanks to Jade’s errant bullet.

Shaina West’s heroine thwacks, hacks and quips her way through this pulpy action movie, leaving Mickey Rourke and his henchmen in her wake

British martial artist and stunt performer Shaina West (she was one of the assassins in Black Widow and also appeared in The Woman King) graduates to star with the title role of this pulpy, retro action flick. Her Jade is an English ex-pat who has been stranded in some nondescript US town for a little while, still mourning the death of her brother, who was killed in an overly complicated backstory, laid out in a big chunk of animated screen time before the titles come up.

Lionsgate has launched the first official trailer for J. J. Perry's upcoming action comedy The Killer's Game, which is every bit as bloody as you'd expect as we see Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy; Dune; Blade Runner 2049) step into the shoes of an assassin who must survive the aftereffects of a hit he put out on himself.

As per the synopsis, "when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella) , he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late."

“Lendarys,” a big-budget family adventure animation film that is currently in production, scored a handful of pre-sales during the Cannes Market. Rights sales are handled by Hong Kong-, Paris and Los Angeles-based All Rights Entertainment.

With a production budget of 30 million, the film is the directorial debut of Philippe Duchene and Jean-Baptiste Cuvelier. Duchene’s previous work includes acting as lead concept designer on the animation hit “Leap!” (aka “Ballerina”) and as a character designer on Netflix’s animated series “Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles.”

The film was pre-sold to: Kmbo for France, to Flins & Piniculas for Spain; to Another World Entertainment for Denmark and Norway; to Njuta Films for Sweden; Outsider Films for Portugal; and to Blitz Film for Ex-Yugoslavia territories.

Kat McNamara has joined the cast of “Jade” the feature directorial debut of producer, director and stuntman James Bamford. The film began production on Thursday.

The cast already includes Mickey Rourke “Sin City,” “The Expendables,” “The Wrester”) and Mark Dacascos and Shaina West (“Black Widow”).

“Jade” presents the story of a woman (West) who comes between a powerful businessman and a gang leader in their search for a hard drive that could damage the operations of Interpol. Despite grieving for the brother she accidentally killed, the woman is required to use her unique set of skills to retrieve the drive and protect her brother’s unborn child being carried by McNamara’s character.

Production is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico with Tetrad Studios’ Roy Scott MacFarland and Sam Levine producing from the script by Glenn Ennis and Lynn Colliar. Sophie Barry is the associate producer. Bamford, Kimberly Hines and Alex Toumayan are the executive producers.

The film centers on Jade (West), who swore she’d never pick up another gun after her brother’s untimely and accidental death at her own hands. French-made suspense thriller “The Pilot” will join the slate of Hong Kong-, Paris- and Los Angeles-based sales agent All Rights Entertainment at the upcoming film markets.

The story follows a drone pilot in Mali whose wife and daughter are kidnapped by terrorists. They will be executed if he doesn’t derail the capture by his team of the head of a jihadist network. Soon to wrap in Almeria, Spain, “The Pilot” will be ready for delivery by the end of this year and released in the first quarter of 2022.

The film is the latest example in the screenlife genre, in which everything the viewer sees happens on a computer screen, a smartphone or a tablet and the entire film plays out on screens. Other recent successful examples include “Searching,” “Unfriended” and “Profile.”
