Staff Picks: What to Watch in February

Born in French Canada, Alex has a BA(Hons) in costume and set design from Central St. Martins College. Initially trained as a fashion milliner at the age of 15, Alex then worked in England and America as a hat, costume and soft prop maker. She realised her first set design for a community theatre production and as a creative artist, helped to build and paint the sets. She was a dresser in London's West End, a principal dresser at Shakespeare's Globe and The Young Vic and a costume assistant in ITV wardrobe, at The London Studios. While working for the costume designer Anne Symons on a Channel 4 film, Alex was inspired to apply for her degree course.

Since graduating, she has designed costumes and sets and supervised costumes for promenade, sight-specific, touring and proscenium arch theatre productions and for festivals and processions. Please take a look at 'Other Works' here. She has also designed costumes and sets for several short films and a festival award-winning independent feature.

In a move away from theatre, Alex has chosen to develop a better understanding of larger professional film & TV productions. Consequently, she has worked as a trainee on feature films for MGM, Disney and Amazon and on a TV series for Netflix. She enjoys all forms of creative collaborative endeavour, in film, TV, or theatre.

(2019) Promenade Theatre play: Jam Tomorrow - Costume Designer. The Fellowship Project, GLYPT. Funded by The Arts Council, a site-specific play, written by Darren Rapier and directed by Jeremy James. Celebration to launch The Fellowship Inn regeneration in South East London. Set in 1968 over two weeks in the lives of 51 characters/49 actors.

(2019) Site-Specific Event: Leeds Castle Carnival of History with Rosa Productions - Costume Coordinator. Celebrating 900 years of the Castle&#39;s history. Multiple character costumes for a carnival-style parade.

(2018/2019) Site-Specific Event: The Greenham Common Cold War Experience - Costume Supervisor. Rosa Productions, directed by Jeremy James.A re-enactment of events at the US airbase in the 1980s. Re-employed for a repeat performance, cast change the following year.

(2018) Theatrical Event: The Voyage - Costume Designer. South Kesteven District Council and The Gravity Fields Festival, Rosa Productions. An annual carnival parade, depicting Captain Cook&#39;s journey to Australia and Tahiti. Held in Grantham.

(2011) Promenade Theatre Play: The Yellow Wallpaper - Costume Designer. A Donkey Works production. Staged at The Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London. Directed by Allan Sharpington.

(2012/13) Stage Play: Oliver Reed Wild Thing - Costume Supervisor / Hat &amp; Costume maker. A one-man show, Produced by James Seabright, Performed by Rob Crouch, Written by Rob Crouch and Mike Davies, Directed by Kate Bannister. Staged in The West End at The Ambassadors Theatre and St. James Studio, at The Edinburgh Fringe and at The Kings Head Theatre, London.

(2010) Stage play: Sleepy Hollow - Costume Designer. Jack Studio Theatre , Christmas Production. Directed by Kate Bannister and adapted for the stage by Jonathan Clarkson.
