Evan Maragkoudakis is an award-winning cinematographer based in Athens, Greece. Originally trained in law, he earned his LLM from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens before shifting his focus to cinematography, a field he had long been passionate about.
Since 2010, Maragkoudakis has worked on a wide range of visual projects, including narrative films, commercials, music videos, and branded content. His work has been featured in campaigns for global brands such as Google, Balmain, Betano, Missoni, Mastercard, and Nike. In 2020, he contributed to Nike's global campaign "#YouCantStopUs," which was selected as Adweek's "Ad of the Year."
He has received advanced training through prestigious programs, including ARRI Academy's Lighting Fundamentals Masterclass and visual storytelling workshops led by Yorgos Avgeropoulos and Myrto Papadopoulou. In June 2024, he was selected by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) to participate in a Masterclass taught by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Robert Elswit, ASC.
His cinematography for the short film Ston throno tou Xerxi (2022), directed by Evi Kalogiropoulou, earned the Prix Canal+ at Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival. The film received numerous accolades from festivals such as AFI, Sarajevo, Tirana, Kinemastik, and Kunstendorf, where Maragkoudakis was honored with the Vinko Filac Award for Best Cinematography.
He has since completed two feature films: Buzzheart (2024), directed by Dennis Iliadis, and Maldives (2024), directed by Daniel Bolda. Evan Maragkoudakis is a trial member of the Greek Society of Cinematographers (GSC).
