Yaser Bin Abdulrahman (Yaser B.) is a Saudi filmmaker whose passion for storytelling has earned him recognition on both national and international stages. He secured prestigious scholarships from the Saudi Film Commission to study film at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 2018 and the British Film Institute (BFI) in London in 2019.
In 2019, he collaborated with his brother Maan B. as a director on the internationally acclaimed feature film "Junoon," which was mostly shot in Los Angeles. Junoon received many nominations and awards, including the highly desired "Best Picture" Award. This film is now available for streaming on Netflix.
Yaser is also a writer and director of short films, earning recognition by winning the "Wai" regional award supported by the Saudi Ministry of Health. He's brought his creative touch to various government and non-governmental commercials, including high-profile projects like Riyadh Season in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Recently, Yaser, alongside seven other accomplished writers, was handpicked from a competitive pool of submissions from the Arab region to participate in the Red Sea International Film Festival's Red Sea SeriesLab. This exclusive 7-month intensive program provides invaluable access to masterclasses with international industry experts and accomplished TV showrunners, offering Yaser a unique opportunity to develop his Crime/Dark comedy TV Series.
Yaser is now focusing on managing his startup, "Moadaty," a peer-to-peer website that makes filmmaking gear rentals accessible, easy, and affordable for anyone looking to undertake a project. The website connects gear owners with creative artists, including production companies, individuals, and rental houses.
