One Piece Series Officially Outlives Creator's Original Prediction End Date
Image
One Piece fans cannot get enough of Eiichiro Oda's long-running manga, but as the series has just had its 112th volume published in Japan, it's clear that at least one thing about the franchise isn't going according to plan.

Oda has previously claimed that he has the entire ending for the manga planned out. However, a self-imposed 'deadline' made in 2022, when he stated that he hoped to end the series within three years, has evidently not been met -- nor anywhere near it. Of course, this is excellent news for fans who remain dedicated to the manga, as well as its numerous popular adaptations. One Piece remains one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s biggest hitters and most beloved series, while the popular Netflix adaptation, whose first season aired in August 2023, is due to get a second season in 2026.

The anime industry is in shock after a few revelations made by a seasoned animator. Boruto animator Kyohei Ebata has caused Netflix a lot of trouble after he publicly accused the distribution team of the company’s upcoming anime series, Yaiba: Samurai Legend, of “slashing” his pay.

With the show being surrounded by several other allegations, and with the growing scrutiny of working conditions among the public, this controversy could break the company and have significant repercussions.

“Wait, how many swords are there”: After Reading Detective Conan’s Script Director Clearly Had 1 Priority That Could’ve Ruined the Anime
Image
Detective Conan’s Million Dollar Pentagram was a spectacular combination of mystery, urgency, action, and incredible feats. Although it was well-crafted, the movie was almost undone by one absurd detail: it had too many swords. When script director Chika Nagaoka read the initial scenario from Takahiro Okura, her first reaction wasn’t excitement; it was confusion.

The story used swords as the basic unit of the treasure hunting mystery. And even an experienced director who had worked on Detective Conan movies before couldn’t help but furrow her brows, thinking, “Wait, how many of these are there?”

The movie might be centered around a treasure hunt, and while swords as the pieces of the final puzzle might be expected, the sheer number of them threatened to overwhelm the narrative.

A pentagram, a confession, and… way too many swords

This is because in a Detective Conan movie, a lot of things are happening simultaneously.
