Eric Muss-Barnes was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised by his
maternal grandparents until graduating high school in 1989. The years
following were spent as a freelance writer, doing work for the toy
design division of American Greetings. Muss-Barnes began his
professional filmmaking career in 1993, when he began directing,
editing and acting as cinematographer on music videos for the band Pipe
Choir for their showcase at the SXSW Music Convention in Texas. Since
that humble beginning on a simple project, his film work has expanded
to being a stand-in on Double Dragon (1994), and a production assistant on American Splendor (2003),
the 2003 Grand Jury Prize Winner for dramatic films at the Sundance
Film Festival. In 2001, he went on to act as editor for the feature
motion picture Losing Hope (2001) for Crazy Ralph Films. Founding his own
production company in 1994, Dreamdancer Motion Pictures, Muss-Barnes
wrote, edited and directed the magical short film, The Unseelie Court (2002), and found
his unique work nominated for the Innovation Award at the Ohio
Independent Film Festival. Mr. Muss-Barnes is also a published novelist
and a respected photographer with his digital fine art photography
having been showcased and sold in numerous gallery showings around the
world. His novel, "The Gothic Rainbow" was released to critical acclaim
while individuals and businesses have sought his portrait photography
all across North America and Europe. Eric lives and works in Los
Angeles, California.
